arkos week, day one: pyrrha lives.
He’d run back to Beacon as fast as he could. She’d gone on a suicide mission, but… She couldn’t leave him just yet, could he?
He finally made it back to the school courtyard. He finally came to a halt, doubled-over and panting. He forced himself to stand back up and, looking pass his teammates, pass Blake and Yang…
He wasn’t sure if what he was seeing was real. Was she really there? Was she still really alive? He took several steps towards the red-head.
“… Pyrrha?” he whispered, almost afraid to reach out to her. What if it wasn’t her? What if she really wasn’t there and this was all just some sort of sick illusion? He took several more strides towards her, his eyes wide in disbelief.
“Jaune…!” Her response was only a loud whisper, but it was still her. “Jaune, I…” Her voice was slightly louder, only barely above a whisper, but he could hear the nervousness in it. He was already holding tightly onto her before she could speak again.
“You’re alive…” he whispered, as if in awe. He felt Pyrrha wrap her arms around his neck and he pulled the young huntress-to-be closer, feeling tears forming in his eyes. “You’re alive.”
“Jaune, I’m so sorry,” she whispered. “I thought I could take her, if Ruby hadn’t come in time and been able to help then I-“
“You’re alive, and that’s all that matters,” he responded. He could feel her crying, but it didn’t matter. The two held each other as close as they could, relishing in the moment.
They were both alive, and they both had each other. For the moment, that was all that mattered.
