Cyberpunk 2077 Trailer

The long awaited trailer! Holy hell CD Project Red...AND KEANU REEVES?! I’m interested to see how this world unfolds. with a release date next April. Cyberpunk, as a genre, blends technological advancements, like artificial intelligence and cybernetics, with the harshness of life in a broken down social order. You have high aesthetic 1st Order vibes with the grunge of the seedy under belly of people just scraping things together to survive. 

With often harsh social commentary within the cyberpunk genre, I hope 2077 packs a bit of a punch. I also get some weird vibes from the arm blades that come out. I will absolutely play this game being 110% my aesthetic but I’m curious if I’ll flinch with the arm blades or any other semi body horror events that could happen in a world full of body modifications. All I know is the story so far as pulled me in...and I’m here for it.

Also I have a thing for cyberborg arms...it is a problem.

Arm blades!

So that's what it's called! I always doodle Dratica in this main pose wherw he just puts one of his arms up as if he's wielding a blade. Initially, it reminded me of Alex Mercer from the video game, Prototype (never played it but would like to). I looked up his moves and it said something about transforming his hands/arms into claws and arm blades. I looked up "hand sycthes" at first b4 looking up Prototype. Not what i pictured X( after reading Prototype, i looked up "arm blades" and it was EXACTLY what i wanted to look for. I feel that a part of my life is complete from looking up/finding out the name of my favorite weapon(s) (daggers are my 2nd favorite and swords are my 3rd). I also remembered this one movie that also uses those arm blades. It's called "The Deaths of Ian Stone". Never saw the beginning but still have a vivid idea what goes on in that movie :3

It’s time for Arm Blades!

Yes, you read that right. But we’ll get to it in a moment.

So, surprise surprise: Another murder occurred! This time, it was all of the adults, save Rosa.

So, yeah. That’s happy.

This time, the bodies were found in the chapel (which of course we were never told about) arranged as if they were having a happy Halloween party, if one of the dinner games was “slice your abdomens open and fill them with candy time”!

Hey, you remember that envelope that Beatrice gave Maria? Well, apparently it had the only key to the chapel in it. So we’re left with yet another locked room mystery (unless, of course, you want to imagine that a nine-year-old secretly killed six adults while still hanging around her cousins the whole time). We’ll get to the details of this a bit later.

You may imagine that the children are just a little bit distraught about this turn of events and (aside from Maria again, in her creepy little way) you’d be right. Jessica seems especially disturbed, and dashes off to Beatrice’s room. She busts in (with the help of Kanon’s master key) and of course finds nobody or nothing there, save from a taunting note from Beatrice, basically saying “Hah! You’re an idiot, just like your parents are. Or rather were. BECAUSE I KILLED THEM!”

How nice!

So, Jessica goes to her room to try to calm down, and Kanon follows her to help in any way he can. She has another asthma attack, which Kanon helps with, but suddenly Beatrice appears! She explains that they’re close enough now to be the second sacrifice (which, if you recall, says that “the two that are close are torn apart” or something to that effect). At which point she summons...

...a goat demon in a suit.

Not kidding.

I know, right? But wait, there’s more!

Beatrice sics the demon on Jessica and Kanon both, which causes him to do this:

Just so we’re clear, the goat demon reveals a FREAKING ARM BLADE.

That may be enough you say? BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

Kanon, after an awkwardly long pause, decides to respond IN KIND!

And then THEY FIGHT.

So in my mind, this is roughly like reading an Agatha Christie novel, and then having Poirot go Super Saiyan to beat the crap out of the culprit.

(For what it’s worth, I did search the internet for an image of Poirot as a Super Saiyan, but came up blank. Internet, you know what to do.)

Kanon apparently is both strong with the Schwartz, AND knows how to handle it as he destroys the demon with a coup-de-gras*. But Beatrice, being the paragon of good sportsmanship, summons two other minions (who are apparently related to the weird daggers people have been getting killed with) and ultimately stabbing both Kanon and Jessica with them.

So much for them.

Beatrice decides to disapperate Kanon’s body in order to make the game more interesting. There’s some semi heart-rending scenes in there as well, but hey: my goal in this blog is to try to figure things out, not cry, so there will be NO CRYING HERE.

*sniff*

Of course, after a time, these bodies are discovered, but we’ll talk more about this next time.

* To those more aware of French, you may realize the normal phrase is “coup-de-grace” which means “blow of mercy”. What I wrote means “blow of fat”. I apologize for the error**.

** Actually, I do nothing of the sort. “BLOW OF FAT” FOREVER!
