Analysis of a detail of CMBYN
-
I did some research on Stendhal's book "Armance" that turns in his hands, with a pensive air our friend Oliver and I found some interesting details that prove that this book is not there by chance!
This novel was written by the famous French author of the 19 th century and it was his first novel, it was published in 1827: First funny fact, it is inspired by another novel by the Duchess Claire de Duras whose title was at the origin: "Oliver or the secret" !!!!!!
The novel tells the trouble of a man who is in love but who suffers from sexual impotence, but many readers and analysts (including André Gide) have understood that the real disorder of the hero is homosexuality, which leads him to suicide at the end of the book !!!
Armance tells only in appearance the adventures of an impotent; in reality, Stendhal describes, in words covered, a homosexual, at a time when the censorship of the press prohibited to address clearly this subject.
Extract of the novel :
”
What is most amazing in the passion of love is the first step, it is the extravagance of the change that takes place in the head of a man”
