In the past two days, 500 Ukrainian defenders and two Ukrainian civilians have been released from Russian captivity and returned to Ukraine. 🇺🇦👏💙💛🙏🇺🇦

Among them are soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service who defended the country in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson regions, and in Mariupol. Most had been held for more than a year, some since 2022.

Two Ukrainian civilians were also brought back today.

Among those released are servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, and the State Border Guard Service. They include privates, sergeants, and officers who defended Ukraine in Mariupol and at Azovstal, as well as on the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kyiv, and Kursk sectors. Some of them are returning home after years in Russian captivity, having been held since 2022.

Ukraine is grateful to everyone who helps make these exchanges possible. Bringing every Ukrainian home remains our priority.

To answer a personal calling to be useful for Ukraine, this school teacher, Maryna — call sign ‘Happiness’ — joined the electronic warfare company of the 119th Territorial Defence Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 🇺🇦👏💙💛🙏🇺🇦

To change formulas on a blackboard for electronic warfare technologies against the enemy? Maryna, call sign ʼHappiness‘, managed to do the very thing 👩‍🏫

She used to teach maths and computer science in the Chernihiv region. However, in 2024, the school teacher made her final decision to join the Armed Forces. ʼI was looking for where I could be useful. I want to do it for my Ukraine‘ – Maryna could not stay away, especially since most of her nearest and dearest serve in the army.

Maryna joined the electronic warfare company of the 119th Territorial Defence Brigade. Her position is no easy walk and involves constant training, but Maryna says she has never regretted her choice. Even more, she considers the possibility of pursuing a military career after Ukraine’s victory.

Thank you for defending us, Maryna – may Happiness always be on your side! 🇺🇦

#Repost @kyivindependent_official with @use.repost_ . . . The units of Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR) and the Armed Forces have stopped Russia’s advance toward the city of Zaporizhzhia as part of a three-month defensive operation in the country’s south, HUR claimed on March 7.

The statement was made as Russian advances on most sections of the front line slowed during the winter, mirroring patterns observed on the battlefield the previous year. Meanwhile, Ukrainian units along the southern front in Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts have been pushing forward.

HUR did not reveal the exact area where the Russian offensive was halted.

The special forces unit of Ukraine’s military intelligence, Tymura, killed or wounded over 300 Russian soldiers and captured 39 more, HUR said.

“The goal of the special forces is to disrupt the Russians’ offensive plans and prevent their advance toward the regional capital,” the agency said.

“The actions of the special forces helped stabilize the defense at positions favorable to the Ukrainian defenders and secure Zaporizhzhia.”

The plant, one of Russia’s main manufacturers of gunpowder and explosives for small arms, artillery, and rocket systems, caught fire following the drone strike, according to the General Staff.

Local residents reported hearing explosions and shared videos showing a large blaze near the facility, according to the Russian independent media outlet Astra.

The General Staff described the attack as part of a broader operation to degrade Russia’s ability to produce explosive materials and ammunition used in the full-scale war against Ukraine.
