No, teachers should not be able to carry guns even with training. As you might know, February 28, at 11:30 a.m. a teacher fired a shot out of a window in Dalton High in Dalton, Georgia. Luckily, no one was injured except a twisted ankle while a student was fleeing. If teachers are allowed to bring guns to school we might not be so lucky. This was with a handgun. Another point is that law enforcement arrives they may not know who to shoot. If the FBI goes in to apprehend or kill the shooter and they see an adult with a gun what do you think they will do? They will shoot. They won't know if it's a teacher their job is to save lives and they will try to do just that. If a teacher is in a hallway, holding a gun, with dead students and coworkers around them and law enforcement arrives then another innocent life will be lost and said law enforcement will have to live with that guilt. The president says with proper training teachers will be able to carry guns but he forgets teachers are humans, they might have mental illnesses or breakdowns. He says the guns will be kept in a secure place but what if, somehow, a mentally ill student with nefarious actions is able to get the gun he wouldn't be able to get otherwise. Our tax money would be paying for something most of the country disagrees with. Some say more guns are the solution, to that I say either America is the only country with mental illness or the only country with almost no gun control. Which is it?
