Some thoughts about teachers and guns

So, as a teacher, I’ve been thinking about the current discussion by many about arming teachers, and here’s what I’ve come up with:

1.  Absolutely arm teachers - ALL of us - the government pays to arm and train EVERY teacher 

2.  And we all need AR-15′s.  After all, we need to be armed with the same weapon that our assailants will have, right?

3.  Since the AR-15 is not exactly a small weapon, we’ll need to just keep them slung on our backs - easy to use that way.  Think of the benefits!  If a student disrespects you, you can just whip out your weapon and say, “What did you say?!”

4.  And during contract negotiations, the entire teacher union can just show up at the meetings with our guns - “What did you say about not giving us a raise? You might want to rethink that!”

5.  In fact, giving every teacher a gun will enable us to become the most powerful group in the country.  Yeah, I’m liking this idea!
