I have been thinking lately, I have three Amis that I headcanon as aromantic, and they each deal with it in a completely different way.

Enjolras makes it part of his fight, wears it as a badge of pride and a challenge to question him. He knows about amatonormativity and will tell you all about it. He has a good support network and he knows it.

Feuilly wishes he had mental space to worry about it. It weighs on him, especially when he thinks of getting older and needing assistance, but those are vague, long-term concerns. He will worry about them once his papers are in order and he has a stable job.

And Combeferre just doesn't give a fuck. He has his science and his games and his friends and the rest doesn't even cross his mind.

One time Grantaire wistfully refers to Enjolras as “that virgin marble statue”, and Courfeyrac laughs so hard he has tears in his eyes while Combeferre just lies his head on the table and moans “I wish”.

The Arospec Amis de l’ABC

Enjolras, who is all for sex and none for love.

Combeferre, who just couldn’t be less interested in either.

Courfeyrac, who loves flirting but panics the minute someone seems to want to go farther.

Jehan, who insists that he’s a Romantic, upper case!

Bahorel, who spent more time than they like to admit mistaking gender envy for crushes.

Feuilly, who has too much stuff on his plate to think about romance anyway.

Joly, who couldn’t believe his luck that the first time he’s ever been in love has been with his best friend.

Bossuet, who can still remember clearly the first time he read the definition of a QPR and how right it felt.

Musichetta, who tried traditional relationship after traditional relationship and wondered why they never worked.

Grantaire, who is so unbelievably grateful that Enjolras can’t return his feelings.

....And Marius, who comes into a meeting raving about love and how his world changed in a burst of light and gets met with a bunch of empty stares.

Me, justifying Enjolras’ aromanticness: So, according to this quote from the Brick, and this attitude from the Brick, and his role in the narrative, and his relationship with Grantaire, we can deduce that.... *brings out a fifty pages Powerpoint*

Me, justifying Combeferre’s aroaceness: Combeferre is aroace because I am. Class dismissed.

The Amis do a movie night and someone insists in putting on the latest gay romance film that everyone is talking about; Combeferre, Enjolras and Feuilly end up playing cards in a corner.

Being the most fervent defender of the Original Concept Album (and my analysises of said album).

My aromantic headcanons, especially those for Enjolras and the Triumvirate in general.

it’s too obvious but you’re def the ace/arospec mutual bc you actively talk about stuff like that and qpr’s when not a lot of other people do. it’s a really nice change of pace to see you hc characters as being ace or aro
