the first thing jordan did when he saw the members arrive on set was congratulate them on their recent debut

it just seemed like the right thing to do. he couldn’t imagine it would have been easy having to debut date set the the teasers all coming out and then the whole thing suddenly being put on hold for another couple of months. he supposed it must just be a relief to all of them now that they finally could say they were debuted and now it was just all about getting the exposure the company wanted, which was why he supposed they were here right now. and jordan was not going to disappoint and was going to make sure this was an entertaining episode for them and one he was sure the fans would enjoy as well. 

“i really enjoyed the song,” he made sure to add, smiling at the guys as he greeted them, “it was an instant add on to my playlist i have to admit.” it was not the natural sort of sound you heard from the industry and that was something he liked about it. sometimes the typical sounding song could get incredibly boring, so it was nice to have something fresh and new. he just hoped that kt stuck with that and didn’t just go back to making songs which sounded the same as everything else.

“but don’t worry too much about today,” he went, on trying to calm any nerves about how this might turn out, “i’m sure it’s going to be just fine. you just have to be yourselves and completely embarrass yourselves more than i already am wearing a dress, a wig and pretending to loudly snore in the background.” joking seemed to always help the mood, especially as he was sure they were nervous about things as this was probably one of the first variety performances they were filming as their debut had only been just over a week ago by the time they were filming.

one last smile as he bowed again, “but i’ll leave you to get ready. i need to get myself all nice and pretty.” and with that he turned on his heel and headed to the small dressing room in the back to get himself ready. though it only took a moment to put the wig and dress on, taking one last look at himself in the mirror provided before he was heading back towards the main filming to take his usual position on set on the rather comfortable sofa behind the guests. 

the filming went pretty smoothly and jordan was up to his usual antics of trying to make the guests laugh and adding in funny quips and loud snores, the occasional sleep talking and itching his nose as he rolled over. at the end of the day he wouldn’t say he would have done anything different and, as usual, he was always sure to thank the filming crew and rest of the staff as well. just one more recording under his belt, many many more left to go, but at least he was still having fun with it. 

as much as you could not being able to talk very much.

it was already late, so when he saw aron in one of the practice rooms, he decided to wait at the lobby for him. before aron lived in the dorms, gray would have sometimes dragged him along to drive him home and spend some quality time with the little brother. but now that things had changed, he wasn't too sure if it still made sense to do so. gray did it anyways. he missed the younger, missed their interaction and the affection they shared for each other. in times of need, gray wanted him to know that he was there for him. no matter if as someone to rely on or just to talk to. he wasn't the type of guy who wanted to leave anyone hanging, just because he decided otherwise for himself.

after packing his things and leaving his own practice, he sat down on one of the benches in the lobby and leaned against the wall, while closing his eyes. gray was hungry, but then again how many days had he gone without talking to one of his closest friends even though they were signed under the same label? it felt weird how they barely interacted at the moment, despite having the possibility too. feeling how his lids became heavy, gray closed his eyes and exhaled a sigh. dozing off, he sat in the dark entrance hall of kt entertainment, before hearing the male voices echoing through the halls a little later. flinching awake, he looked up and saw aron coming around with some of the other male trainees.

at his sight a smile tugged on the corner of his lips immediately. "arong! can i walk with you to the dorms? i've been missing you lately."

Hesitance

“Aron hyung?

There’s unexpected hesitation in Hyunjin’s heart when he calls out for Aron. They’ve grown closer this past month (or at least, Hyunjin likes to think they have now that they’re living in the same room), but it’s not whether Hyunjin thinks he’s close to Aron or not that makes the hesitation unexpected. Always an open book, it takes little for Hyunjin to trust and divulge his worries or secrets; so the mere existence of hesitance is what confuses Hyunjin. He’s been a little soft ever since he was a child, practically grew up with a sign looped around his neck that asked “please handle with care” even if the boy was far from fragile; but that didn’t stop himself from pouring out his heart to practical strangers.

Maybe it’s the fact that he feels a need to be liked by the other boys in the team that grows this hesitance. They were going to be together for much of the foreseeable future, and nothing scared Hyunjin more than the possibility of soiling a friendship so early on. They’re back in the apartment in their shared room, and Hyunjin peers over the edge of his top bunk, looking down at Aron, his apeach plushie tucked into the crook of his arms for emotional support. Tentative, Hyunjin starts off with something casual, “How are you finding training for this month?”

Hyunjin tends to spend more time in his head internalising his thoughts rather than speaking them aloud these days, and he finds it does him absolutely no good when all he can really think about is the question that’s been running in circles inside his brain for the last twenty minutes. That initial question isn’t what he wants to talk about, isn’t what Hyunjin wants to ask. “I’m worried,” he admits, cutting to the chase faster than even he himself was prepared for, “Preparing for two groups, it’s a lot. And,” the words to express himself comes and goes in waves, “What if in the end I can’t do it? They’ve put so much trust in me, giving me the chance to be part of two projects so early, I’m afraid I’ll disappoint them”.
