Physalis peruviana- love in a cage ❤️ this member of the nightshade family is native to South America where it’s cultivation can be traced to the Incan Empire. The red cherry develops inside an inflated calyx which eventually dries and falls away, giving it this cage like look. Also known as ground cherry this nightshade can be used to keep a lover from straying keeping them bound in your love ❤️ but then is it really love? This plant is not poisonous or psychoactive, it is a close relative of the tomatillo and is edible. Photo from Flickr Love magic has a an interesting place on the Poison Path. POCULA AMATORIA In these ancient world these were love philtres and potions containing powerful pharmaka (ceremonial plants with psychoactive effects). In this way the sacred entheogen was used to dull the senses and lower inhibitions, others acted as sexual stimulants. The use of pocula amatoria in manipulative magic was well known throughout the ancient world.
