"Sole Cycle" Acrylic, 12 x 16 in. Started and finished 1/31.

4/5 daily paintings for my Painting 2 class! The prompt for this one was "ambiguous" IIRC! I was stressing myself out over the details in this so my teacher encouraged me to ditch the representational approach and try abstract painting instead. Still very happy with this one, I'm grateful it got me out of my comfort zone!

And (mostly)done with this guy too. Had fun with this one too, learned how to do rimlighting, which still needs work but it takes time.

His name is Mordecai, story behind this is him finally getting over and repenting of his past sins after a long journey and perilous times his world/the world/the universe is going through.

Again as stated in previous WIP posts, inspiration for the scene/pose is from the artist littleulvar.

"Fuck!!!" Acrylic + mixed media, 10 x 20 in. Started and finished 02/05.

My final daily painting! The theme was "narrative," I set up a still life of some of my things and tried to paint how I was feeling in the moment... which was extremely stressed because I was worrying about transferring. (Thankfully that's all sorted out now.) I included some familiar critters if you look closely. My painting teacher encouraged me to add the text, I was a lil hesitant but now I'm glad I did.

I really hate experiencing such strong + intense emotions but I'm trying to reframe it as a gift; art is my outlet and I think most of my work wouldn't exist if I was more chill. And a lot of my favorite pieces were done when I was really struggling, so I think I just gotta learn to lean into it. LMK if you have a similar relationship to your art!

thinking about this work we had to do last year in my art class with Michelangelo's David and how when they told us the background had to be simple colors i really went and did the powerpuff girls heart thing.

Progress on some inks. The guy on the left is 100% done and I can start laying down the flats. Haven’t removed lines behind the smoke because I’m still unsure if I want just a hit of lines showing ‘through’ the smoke.

The dragon on the right has a few more thing to ink, like the land and correcting that hand anatomy and I can start laying the flats on that too.

Also things i learn while recording myself, overly self conscious about showing a hint of my having to stop and use/look up refs and I shouldn’t be. So when I edit and render the videos of the inks, especially for the one on the left you’re gonna see a lot of cuts.

Week 2 Classwork

First up is a 10min sketch based on the picture [side note: the face i drew looks funny now that i look at it xD]

Next up is 3 thumbnail design on a Sci-fi season veteran of war who has a preference for larger style weapons. (just my kind of thing)

Will be posting again later on my Flats in Gray artwork for the girl.
