Project one proposal:
The narrative I am going to explore is one where mankind has wiped itself out most of itself in a global war that was fought with robots. During this war nature took back what was lost. Humans no longer reign supreme. The story will be told from the perspective of a robot who through AI has become sentient and no longer wants to fight. Aside from the robots who he fought against there are other things who want him dead. Even though the war was fought by humans they used robots to inflict the damage. Not everything living is going to let them off the hook. The world he will be making his journey is going to be constructed from foam, model kits spurs, 3D printed parts, and digital elements. I have been looking into a lot of cyber punk worlds for inspiration. I am aiming to capture the look of a futuristic city that was laid waste to. Not all the figures and models I have are in the scale I desire. That is where I will have to do some alterations in photoshop or play with perspective when I set up my shot. The main robot is a standard stock infantry model as he goes through his journey his experiences will be reflected in his appearance. The purpose of these photos is to give myself a rough idea for shots I might want to set up. I acted out some encounters that I have been considering for this robot’s journey. I have no name for him yet.
Much like my final from last semester I will be using what I learned from creating that environment on this project. I have a focusing rail and will be focus stacking all my photos to create a nice clean image. Comic book panels may make another appearance in this world. The use of scanned images worked well last time I tried them. This time I will make sure that they wrap correctly when they are overlaid. The foam pieces have yet to be sculpted into the forms I want. From there they will be painted and flocked to appear like real world terrain. I have led lights, candle lights, and mini spotlights to use for lighting the shot.
