The french loaf has this thin, crackly crust, but it tastes warm and buttery even with it being a few days old. Within, it is fluffy with a slight chew, a sign of its quality. Crumbs fall to my desk, stick to the underside of my forearms. They itch for their brief stay.
The cheese, meanwhile, is creamy and sharp, having aged in the fridge for a few weeks before being unwrapped from the individual plastic sleeves. It's become more of a medium cheddar than a mild, a good cut against the soft weight of the carb.
They stick in my teeth, only washed away by cold watermelon tea. The mild sweetness is a soothing end to the simple meal, and maybe, just maybe, i cAN FINALLY WRITE MY FANFICTION FUCK I DID THE WRITING THING NOW CAN I DO THE OTHER WRITING THING
It's February 21st. My phone tells me it's a cool 59° Fahrenheit outside. My eyes tell me it's a cloudy day. I've turned off the central air/heat and opened up several windows, to let the cats hear and see the birds that are singing away, perched in nearby trees that don't have their leaves just yet. For me this is a near-perfect day, if only it was a little sunny. Then again, if it was a little sunny I'd be out taking a walk. Instead, I'm writing this post specifically to procrastinate all the chores I'm not currently doing. I just spent two weekends back-to-back attending anime conventions as a volunteer with the manga library; I have plenty of chores I have to catch up on.
It really is a nice day. There isn't pollen yet and it obviously isn't hot, nor is it too cold, so having the windows open is actually viable. I'm wearing shorts and an old t-shirt and a pair of wooly socks. I like being cold, but not too cold.
Looking out my window (ignoring the stack of boxes I still haven't done anything with since we moved in almost two months ago, the pile of laundry I need to put away, the pile of laundry that needs to be washed, etc etc) I can see that one of the trees in the distance is starting to bloom with pink flowers. It's hard to know if this is a false winter, or if winter is over and maybe we'll have a longer spring than usual this year. We tend to only get like 2-3 weeks of it before it's too hot and humid to even charitably call the weather "spring" and not just "summer part 1". We just had snow at the beginning of the month, two weekends in a row. Now it's 60°. Truly, the weather here in NC can best be described as "bipolar".
What is the point of this post? There isn't one. Or maybe, it's so that when I'm going back through my posts in December I'll stumble on this post and remember how things were on February 21st. Sure, the world is on fire and all of my hobbies are rapidly becoming too expensive, and I'll surely be lamenting climate change in the summer when it's eleventy fucktillion degrees. I'll think back to this 60° weather both fondly and jealously.
So, where have I been for the last decade? Asked Nobody

FAQ
Q1: where the fuck did you go? I thought you died
A: legally, I did. My death was faked and I was taken to this shitty place called "Oppidan Labs". if things go to plan, the whole world's gonna hear plenty about that lot soon enough. You know those movies where there's this evil corporation that collects and creates abominations? Apparently, those are real.
Q2: Where'd all your old posts go?
A: I deleted them. Partially to get a clean slate, partially because I do not need my new friends... situationship? seeing how cringe I used to be. also partially to aid in getting rid of my previous digital footprint for safety measures.
Q3: What now? Why come back to the hellsite? Any other places you've returned to?
A: I wanted to. Especially since, apparently, all other social media has turned into complete slop since I was last online? Like it was starting to decline a bit before, but it really just slid into shit in the last decade. I just straight-up deleted my other socials once I saw... all that. bleh.
I have a rednote but I don't post there, purely just to scroll. and a youtube but again I just watch shit I don't post there
as for "what now"? Well. I don't know that part
I think I'm mostly just gonna reblog stuff like how I used to, maybe make more posts now and then once I can talk more without security concerns
I also, obviously, have ten years worth of pop culture to catch up on, so maybe I'll make some fandom stuff like the good ol days once I do
okay fun blog deco stuff now yayyyyyy ~✨
this, along with my fic IWSWLOL, are being repurposed into original works, to distance from all the fuckery
So for almost a week now I've been possessed with the all-consuming need to write...a story that isn't Serpentarius. But this is a short one, I keep telling myself. Very short a to b plot, I'll get it done and edited and it'll be something I can finally post in the "short stories" section of my site. It'll be great. Maybe I can even send it in to some of those places that are accepting short stories.
I've already written 30k words. Granted, the story is getting close to being finished and it is a simple a to b plot, but I guess I don't understand the concept of "short"
Anyway, look forward to reading it soon (hopefully). It's about the end of the world and a human and a god falling in love with each other.
Have a lore test drabble I did for one of my Mother OC's (of course it's a gieeg)
(I havent proofread it and just threw it together to get my idea written down)
It was always warmer here.
She'd never get used to it.
The grass felt strange. It was rough, it was warm, it felt like needles against her skin.
The creature took an instinctive step back, placing her feet back on the familiar coolness of the stones beneath her.
Hesitantly, she took a breath, and began her long walk through the forest, tail lashing behind her as muddled thoughts became clearer.
The moonlight made the creature's white body shine.
So much for not drawing attention.
Her ears twitched as she carefully nestled herself within the branches of a berry bush, nose twitching at the new scents around her.
Long, white ears poked from the foliage first, followed by a snout. Her shoulders slumped, and a groan of annoyance escaped the creature as her ears laid flat against her head- an expression of anger.
The town was surprisingly alive below her. A woman was out in her garden doing some early-morning gardening.
A man sat on his porch with a slightly older looking man, gesturing up at the sky every so often, before taking turns laughing at something the other had said. A dog barked somewhere behind one of the taller buildings.
The gieeg's lips curled back into a snarl.
There, tucked away in the horrid little town, was the little white house with a pretty picket fence and a sloped grey roof- the house at the exact coordinates that her stubborn brother had marked on his stupid map.
