SEA WALLS SAN DIEGO
by Jet Martinez
Established in 2014 by the PangeaSeed Foundation the “Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans” program uses contemporary art to raise awareness of the ocean’s importance to the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the medicines we rely on. A rapidly growing community of now already more than 200 volunteer artists have already created more than 300 murals in 12 countries. Born in a small town in Veracruz but now living in the Bay Area, Jet Martinez was in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego in 2016 adding his name to the role of Sea Walls supporters with this work at Robinson and Fourth Ave. behind Artist & Craftsman Supply. Martinez work puts a contemporary spin on Mexican folk art and “Amate” paintings—in this case making a colorful statement about the abundant beauty around us at risk from herbicides and pesticides. @jetmar1 @seawalls_ @pangeaseed @artistcraftsmansupply @streetartcities

‘Save The Vaquita!’ A new mural by Art Of The Endangered in Manhattan Beach, calling attention to the urgent plight of the vaquita, the world’s most endangered marine mammal. Less than ten vaquitas are estimated to be alive today. This project was produced by Impermanent Art in partnership with Pangeaseed and their Seawalls "Artists For Oceans" inititative. And with the passionate support of Unità Club. Big thank you to everybody involved.
