My professor from UNCP 15+ years ago, asked me why would you want your digital pieces to look like paint. Why not go work in paint if that's what you want. I realize that for some people that's what they want (and that's great) but his words really hit home for me. It wasn't long after that I started working in a way that pushed the digital media of the piece. I understand the need for replication, but I really love embracing the media and pushing what it can do as itself.
