i actually liked the club Icarus mv because you could sense the effort put into it but girl wtf was it about????? I don’t understand it and I don’t get why artms has like 5 teen girl personas. who are those actors and why aren’t they introduced if they’re so important?
It follows on from the virtual angel MV. The 5 girls who were obsessed fans or actually devotees I think they were termed? who went "missing" in this MV, were actually turned into noise/static/TV energy. Choerry had been researching their disappearance and came to that conclusion after communing with the static. Haseul I think was also able to enter this space and commune with the static? But then Heejin was shocked to notice the one of the missing/transformed devotees was actually alive and at Club ARTMS. So, that's one plotline.
Then jinsoul shoots her mother - Artemis - and is rebuked by God for such an act, struck down by lightning. This links back to the intro drawings where the disabled girl wants to seek revenge on her mother for giving her false hope. If it wasn't clear, the 5 ARTMS members were spawned from Artemis, so that's mom. This THEN links onto the emails that were shared beforehand about how Club Icarus is for "broken" people, who've had their dreams crushed. The... DJ(?)/email sender/"A" writes about how both they ("A"), the reader and "she" (referred to as verified beauty?) had dreams about what was depicted in the intro. Is Jinsoul/ARTMS members the verified beauty? Anyway, this also links to Haseul and friends being shot out of the sky by the 4 men. Metaphor for losing your wings and being crushed by oppressors.
Plotlines I didn't get either: wtf the kimlip doing man she really just stood there.
Also I didn't get why it started with a person jumping from a building and choerry watching but I just realised now - "I'll be there when your wings break", choerry watched feeling helpless and confused as she was certainly there but couldn't stop their death. Not in Choerry form anyway. I think that's another devotee (they just probably couldn't get all 5 devotee actors back lol). Even though they clearly hit the ground and lost their physical body, they became part of the noise instead. But thats not really Choerry's power so much as... ARTMS? Or Artemis?
I guess for me with the two plotlines its hard to precisely reconcile them. One half is angry at Mother Artemis, and one half relies on maybe(?) Mother Artemis(? it could be ARTMS or something else? Icarus?) to give them new wings. So... thats something to dwell on.
