What's the artwork about..??? This artwork has won the Central Singapore Upcycling Contest in the People's Choice Award 2020. "Singing In The Rain '' is made out of old cassette tapes that have been collected over 30 years. Now, it has become obsolete. Something that is old and deemed as "Trash" has transformed into a masterpiece. It has a dual utilitarian purposes. One as an umbrella holder and another as a sculpture installation for your home interior decor. "Singing In The Rain" is titled as such because it incorporates the cassette tapes.The absence of music psychologically makes you imagine the music exists in your mind. A more of a visual interpretation rather than audionary. The umbrella symbolises both good and bad omen. On a more positive note, the symbolism of The Guardian Angel that protects you from rain and shine. It provides you shade. To the Chinese belief, it is bad luck to open an umbrella indoor. On the other hand, the Malay belief that it will invite snakes.
