Shinichiro Inui’s solo exhibition titled PRETTY LIE and UGLY TRUTH is on view from November 29th through December 3rd at Jadite Galleries with an opening reception on Thursday, December 1st, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Inui’s first ever exhibition in New York will showcase his new collections of paintings and photographs as well as clothes and leather bags which he designed.

Inui’s work is known for his graffiti style, which he achieves by using photographs and common items such as pieces of clothes. By combining all of these items, Inui breaks down what is accepted as common sense through the use of simple designs. Inui is quoted as explaining, “I aim to reveal beauty that exists where reality has been destroyed. Such beauty can only be realized through loss. Destruction and regeneration, in this way, is the theme of my work.” Inui is inspired by the vanity of items surrounding us and attempts to gain a sense of life’s richness. Inui elaborates, “Sensitivity to the ephemerality of decaying objects and appreciation of beauty of imperfections are unique to Japanese aesthetics. Although the act of destruction is negative, it can also be a starting point for the birth of beauty.”

After graduating from Oregon University’s Department of Art in 2009, Inui has been passionately focused on conveying the theme of realization of life through gains and losses in his work. Inui has also been deeply involved his fashion design business since 2012, designing t-shirts for marathons in Japan as well as t-shirts for a snowboarding line for Asics. In 2014, Inui was appointed to paint the wall of the German Embassy in Japan for the 25th anniversary of the tearing down of the Berlin Wall.

５月８日に東京日野市で行われた「ひの新撰組まつり」にて＜日野からはじまるアートプロジェクト〜庭画廊＞と題しましてライブペインティングやらして頂きました。 天候にも恵まれて、太陽の下でみなさんと楽しくアートをシェア出来た事嬉しく思いました。 場所も東京都歴史建造物の渡邊家の庭を使わして頂き、たくさんの人達に来て頂き新たな出会い、そして楽しいお話ができました。セットアップしてくれたArtratesのみなさんとボランティアで頑張ってくれたみなさん、そしてお越しになってくれたみなさん、本当にどうもありがとうございました！ また日本でライブペインティングをやりたいです :)
