This is a good article I am mainly posting because I am forever salty there is absolutely zero fucking organizing in the US to expand the NEA and other arts program funding, or any dialogue about trying to make such a movement on Tumblr, especially amongst copyright-minimalists like myself, and double-especially in the era of AI.

To be fair to Tumblr leftists, I am well aware a lot of y'all aren't USAmerican. But to be balanced, I don't ever fucking hear about you working in any movements to expand your country's art programs either.

Okay, I'm posting this mainly because I saw someone reblog this and got real mad, but like, while I don't doubt there are people who are Like That and that the people who use that word are speaking from legit concerns wrt global production...

...High-key, I do not trust anyone who uses the fucking phrase "treatler," because in my observation it's rooted less in concerns over material production and more over vibes derived from the same contempt for pleasure and efficiency fetishism that leads to us having nearly zero public arts programs in the US and no motivation to expand them, at least way more than anyone saying it wants to admit.

Like legit, in my observation, most of the more-radical-than-thou leftists saying it are also the sorts of people who re-invented "degenerate art" from first principles via Adorno, they just think they're Special because they consider superhero comics and things that appeal to The Wrong Kind Of Autistic People degenerate instead of Piss Christ and The Watermelon Woman*.

It's a confluence I've observed, and I do not think that's a coincidence.

*I think a healthy arts program should support both sorts of media, but that's its own post.
