Women in Mahabharata - Shvetaketu's Mother

She is probably the last truly independent woman in Mahabharata.

Her name has also not been recorded in the epic, but her story is used by Pandu in an effort to convince Kunti to use her 'powers' to have her kids.

Once when Svetaketu sees his mother leaving his home with a man other than his father Aaruni Uddalaka, he throws a hissy fit. His father tries to explain that this (open-marriage/poly?) arrangement is something they both are aware of and okay with, but Shvetaketu refuses to accept it.

He then goes on to draft the set of laws that formally institutionalizes monoandrous marriage in hindu society. All because he couldn't deal with his mother having more than a single partner!
