When I did a reread of their chapters (along with Jon's) last year, I remember being surprised by how well Bran and Dany's stories paired together. They are both messiah figures dealing with the rebirth or rediscovery of magic in the world. I'm hoping for a solid team up with them too.

Thank you for your kind replies. I think the illness is just making the crappy parts of my situation feel worse. I started a second course of antibiotics today and that should hopefully help. Being tired and ill is the worst and I just happened to be lucky enough to have two infections that could not be treated by the same medication.

What what I find horrifying about this quote is that it suggests that there is only one right way to be feminine. That would suggest that Padme is acting like a male character during all the times she's wearing pants, engaging in physical combat, and shooting a blaster. That's not true of course, but this quote, and that actress, are incredibly sexist toward women who don't conform to the patriarchal definition of femininity.

That’s not what this is about at all. She’s criticizing this “strong female character” trope that says strong female characters are the female characters that act like men. Sophie is criticizing the people who call Sansa stupid for being pretty, for liking songs and romance. And the people who call her weak because of that. It’s the same thing with Padmé. Both characters are extremely “feminine” and romantic and they both are call weak for it. It’s not about criticizing female characters who are not feminine, it’s about criticizing the misguided notion that a strong female character is a character that behaves like a strong male character. when the truth is, any female character can be a strong female character.

She said that (“feminine characters when they act like male characters”) female characters that act like man are still feminine characters. How could it be a “”patriarchal definition of femininity” when she didn’t even mention what “feminine” means? She’s not discussing or judging what is or what isn’t feminine, she is just saying: there’s more than one way to be a strong female character. She is not even criticizing female characters that act like man. She is criticizing the public’s reaction to female characters that don’t.

Look at every major franchise. The female characters are all the same type of strong (fighters that could beat a man up) and they are loved for it. but when you put a different type of female character on screen, someone like Sansa or Padme, someone who doesn’t fight, someone who is more involved in politics, who like pretty dresses and dreams the public rejects them because they are not “strong”.

Feminism is about women’s right to choose  who they want to be. And that means respecting that a woman can be whatever she wants, whether it’s a warrior, a wife or anything else in between. Saying that there’s anything wrong with women who are WANT to be romantic, have families, get married or “dress pretty”, is quite the the opposite of feminism.

This is something I puzzle over. GRRM said that the Tyrells planned for the poisoning to appear to just be Joff chocking on food. But it doesn't seem realistic that the Tyrells wouldn't have a back up suspect in case the chocking excuse didn't work and they did seem to have renewed their plan to use Sansa. Then again, as the poison mule I don't see how they thought she would get out of it unscathed. This is why we need a Tyrell pov.

ya it’s tricky.  and like, i firmly believe my reading, but it’s mostly because i’m not convinced by ones in which olenna tyrell wouldn’t think that sansa might be implicated somehow.  like she’s a crafty crafty person, and they’re remarkably utilitarian.  but then again who knows.  

i like that the tyrells don’t have a pov, but that’s purely selfish of me, and i’d probably change my mind actually reading one, since i don’t mind them as individuals, i just can’t stand their family philosophy/mentality.

I am meeting George RR Martin in less than 10 days I am so so happy! He is coming to Saint Petersburg for a Fantasy Assembly, and I will attend his 2-hours long conference where he will be answering questions and the following day I will attend a one-hour long session where he will be reading a part from “Sons of the Dragon” (I don’t know if he will read something new or something he already read in 2013 and 2014).

I want to give him a gift ... Does anyone know if he accepts presents from fans? I’ve been thinking, maybe I could buy him a book of Russian folklore tales (in English of course)? Could I write him a letter too? Thanking him for creating ASOIAF and his characters and stuff like that.

And what questions could I ask him? I know GRRM does not like answering popular questions aka questions that he has been asked dozens of times before already lol. Since he loves House Targaryen so much maybe I can ask him about it? Why was Gaemon called the Glorious? That sure is not a popular question lol. I have 9 days to come up with a list of questions and then I hope I will be able to ask him one of these.

Hep me guys please! I am so excited :D
