She frowns, looking at him. "Funny, I've always found the opposite to be the true. True love means that you'd be willing to walk away if it was best for them." Marisa glances over to her husband, trying to give off the impression that she was talking about him. Of course, she wasn't, but as charming as Lord Asriel was, Marisa had to keep up appearances. "But then again, someone with your reputation for dalliances might have a different experience than I would, my lord." She chuckles lightly, covering up her dig at him with her laughter. asriel's brow rose and lips curled in a smirk. that woman never failed to amuse him. even if that was her husband who laughed out loud and gave his friend a strong single pat on the shoulder. "she's right, asriel. maybe time to settle in, ay? i'm definitely not going to let go of my lady, right darling?" he kissed her hand and asriel just hummed in return and took a sip from his glass, his gaze burning with hers under the hooded eyelids. "perhaps, yes," he said at last, seeing through his companion in a ways the other man never would. "i can think of another as skilled at liaisons in our humble company, though." he could imagine just how easily his old friend had fallen in her sweet web. sadly he didn't expect him to notice her intriguing mind as edward never seemed to care about science, unlike hustle and politics.
