Life: A Do-It-Yourself Project
(Originally written on October 2012)
Yes! I did it. It took me a jar of courage to do it, but at last, thank you Mr. Confidence.
It was no easy for the Bachelor of Science in Office Administration II-3D to present a well-prepared seminar with stress-free spirits and having no pressure cookers. It was definitely presented gracefully and I bet you, it was an intellectual morning for all of us. But I just want to give the credit to one and only “ever-gorgeous” (as what she defines herself) President. One thing for sure, the morning of October 9, 2012 was an awesome, mind-opening, rejuvenating, stress-relieving, nakakabaliw, etc (I couldn’t find time to search what Kris Aquino describes her product in her latest endorsement). Seriously, everything fell into its proper place.
Just so you know, I'm neither doing a reaction paper nor any requirement. I just wanna blog.
Michelle Del Rosario, who led the doxology “Lord, I offer My Life to You” is surely a not comparable performance. She is definitely a singer. I think Otep didn’t also accommodate butterflies in his stomach. His confidence would certainly help him grow. It was then followed by the opening remarks, which I think I have to compliment myself because I have written it, read by the ever-gorgeous President. And what line that happens to be my favorite was “professionalism comes in values and ethics and not just those long-sleeve dresses, black shoes with heels and make-ups.” My turn now. Just like what I have said, I really pushed up myself to discourage any barrier that could prohibit me to do so. Sa madaling salita po, CONFIDENCE talaga. I really prepared comprehensively because the work that I have given to me seemed to be quite sensitive. It was the introduction of the speaker; of course, I have searched for any information which happened to be compact and sounded like confusing. So I have to be careful to what I have had written. Professor Diana Lee Tracy K. Chan was a graduate of Polytechnic University of the Philippines, having taken up BS Entrepreneurship in 2008 and Master of Education Management at PUP Open University System in 2011. She never ended up bushed because she now takes up Doctor in Educational Management at PUP Graduate School and a course specialist in PUP Manila and Commonwealth.
--Professor Chan took up the floor—
She is probably an eye-opener, intellectual, intelligent, wise, smart and everything that could be synonymous to “knowledgeable”. She made us realized what we could build in ourselves when it's our turn to be professionals.
The first lesson that we have tackled is the definition of Professionalism. You want to be professional someday? Yes. Who doesn't want to? But how?
Sabi niya, you have to be aware of yourself. The first one that is significant is having knowledge about your self- your beliefs, behavior and personality- and to sum up it would make you as a human being.
The second is the “Model”. Simply a question, Who do you want to be? Or who that gives you inspiration to what you want to be in the future? Do you want to be as intelligent as Jose Rizal or as wise as Former President Marcos?
Conceptualization ends in “TO BE IMAGE.” This is the sum of Self-awareness and Model. What do you want yourself to be? Having self-awareness knows no boundaries, if you know who you are, then you can simply build your own image just through how you think about yourself PLUS your model that inspires you.
Are you now a professional? Take this.
Inventory + Feedback = Transformation Process
Input -> Process -> Output
Professor Diana explained it by this example;
You have to set up your objective: to be fluent in English (that’s input). Your strategies and techniques on how you come up with this input (e.g. read books and using English in everyday communication), THIS IS NOW THE PROCESS. After doing so, you can expect a result (OUTPUT).
Also, you have to build rooms for improvements because even if you DO a certain thing or you don’t either, people have something to say about you. So always take time for feedbacks for your own metamorphism.
Some of the things, in addition, that I have learned are:
We are what we know about ourselves.
Life laughs when your unhappy
Life smiles when you are happy.
Worth-it wisdom continued as she served the 24-karat Professional Image.

As I’ve said, I was served healthy vegetables of insights and clear thoughts. That’s why, I love Prof. Chan for being a good speaker. And one more thing, good is not enough if you can do better. And better is not enough if you can do the best. That’s how we build professionalism.
Also. Thank you Mam Fernando for the unwavering support.
