“what do you mean?” diana questioned, brows knitting together as a look of confusion formed on her face. she hadn’t a clue why wanda would ask that. there wasn’t a reason in the world as to why diana would be unkind to her. after all, she hadn’t disrespected her in anyway. 

gently taking the spoon in her hand, diana twirled the metal object around the cup, watching the liquid mix together. she had made herself a cup of tea, being as she wasn’t that big of a fan of coffee in the late evenings and had been perched up on the couch reading a book for most of the night before the other woman came. it wasn’t long until the two got into a rather intense conversation. it wasn’t anything serious, persay..it was just, random things, things that were on the womens minds. 

the warrior was raised to be kind to everyone she met until given a reason not too, and the people in this place were no different. as the two sat in silence for a moment, the brunette gave the other a small yet sincere smile. “i’m always kind to the people that deserve it most, and to the ones that are kind back. you haven’t given a single reason as to why i wouldn’t respect you. you’re a strong woman and i value that as a woman myself. i’ll always be nice, wanda.”

“There is nothing wrong with the way I dress. I just have a excellent colour scheme. Black goes with anything.” he said haughtily. He was expected at a society dinner, something he wasn’t keen on going too. But his name and skills carried weight and he was always desperate to improve his reputation. This was a chance too good to pass up.

So he’d dressed in the finest of tuxedos. Black pants, jacket, shoes, shirt and tie, cut to perfection and made by one of, if not the most, expensive tailors in New York. Even he’d had to hold back a gasp at the price, still, he could afford it. 

“Besides, do you have any idea what goes on at these things? Trust me, the atmosphere will be pretty similar to a funeral and most of these people will behave like zombies. Now c’mon.” he gestured at her.

“Get dressed or I’ll whip up something. I’m not going stag and you heroes need all the help you can get with society, I’m doing something nice so you may start acting grateful now.” And if he showed up with a date he wouldn’t have to worry about dealing with advances all night.

“Chop chop. And make it something red. I’m dead inside and dress to match you might as well look good to make me look better.”

Zach rolled his eyes, “Have you forgotten who you’re talking too?” he asked, turning to face Wanda. He may have gotten rather bored and turned up to avengers tower in need of something to do. The vodka he’d brought had been a last resort. But if that was what Wanda wanted.

He smirked and placed the bottle on the large bar nearby. This Stark guy had it going on, Zach should crash this place more often, and leant against it. “eroM.” he commanded, several bottles joined the first, “eniW.” he added, “niG, yeksihw, acubmas.” He kept up till almost the entire bar was covered in different bottles of only the highest quality wines and spirits. 

“Now.” he continued, rooting under the bar until he came up with four glass, two for wine, two for shots, and placed them on another table between them. “Rule number three: We must drink as much of this as possible before we get caught and then entice others to join us.”

He poured two vodka shots.

“Let us begin a night: to regret!” he toasted her and down the booze.

“Reaeeeellllly?” Zach asked, smirking as he stretched the word out, “Cause I’d figure with the world’s fastest brother,” he snorted a little, “Keeping a very close eye on you such a speech would never hear the light of day.” he added lightly, reclining on the couch and throw his feet over the side, crossing them at the ankles, “Speaking of, has he ever let you date? No offence to the guy but he strikes me as overprotective.”

Zach conjured a tea onto the nearby table for both of them, a notebook and pen and a pair of half-moon spectacles on his face before clearing his throat and beginning.

“Whelp, lemme have it Wanda, I shall take notes, criticise and only improve it. You see I have a showman’s flair which could bring a sense of dramatic to said speech, and maybe we could throw in a throwing a glass of wine at them, a dramatic exit, maybe a dance number… I have a few nymphs who owe me a favour.” he grinned at her, twitching the pen slightly, “But before all that let’s here your shit- I mean you own one.”

Zach winced as he made his way to his feet, albeit shakily and using the nearby wall for support. “T-that was a good hit.” he said, trying to ignore the fiery pain in his ribs, “Damn but you’re getting better at this magic stuff.” She’d obliterated his wall of earth and sent him flying back with it.

“I-I’m good. Just uhh, next time go a little easy on a guy. I mean you’re real powerful, but I’m real pretty and fans don’t like it when I go on stage bruised. It makes them worry for my wellbeing.”

He tried to laugh and ohhhhh that hurt. “R-right, next lesson, we’re gonna work on that healing crap of yours, get over here and work on my ribs. Not that they’re hurt or anything, just you know, something to work with.”

“You have no idea what’s going on, right? So you just kind of have to let go and go with it.”

“I could figure out exactly what was going on if I wanted to thank you very much.” Zach snapped indignantly, staring at the dimension hole they may have inadvertently made. So much for a quiet lesson on teleportation but that was the problem with magic, no hard and fast formula. As all those scientists were so happy to go about sprouting.

“Wanda,” he began, “At this point in out totally badass teacher to student relationship I believe we have reached a point where you shall learn another important aspect of magic.” he lectured, coming up close to the worm-hole looking thing and not poking it despite really-really wanting too.

He raised his hands and frowned intently, thinking about which incantation would be best, his usual backwards method? Or a forwards classical incantation? Maybe he should brew a potion and splash it against the distortion to close it? Or summon up Uncle John’s ghost and as his advice? Even call Z and demand she get her butt up here?

So many options….

“esolC!” he yelled.

The distortion shuddered and wobbled for a few seconds before coming together and shrinking smaller and smaller until a few short moments later when it simply vanished from existence. Zach made a satisfied noise and turned back to Wanda.

“Sometimes you have to just think ‘fuck it’ and carry on.”
