Thinking about them
Praying to Apollon, Asklepios, Zeus and Hygeia for the health of a friend and for the victims of the plague. May the Gods be on our side!
Asclepeion (Temple of Asclepios)
Priene, Ionia, Turkey
2nd century BCE
The temple of Asclepios (previously incorrectly identified as the temple of Zeus) was built in-antis in the Ionic style with a portico on the north side. The temple was built for Asclepios, the god of healing, and housed a cult statue of Asclepios, probably with his wife/ Hygieia whose fragment is still on the site. Its decorations were based on the older temple of Athena.
