❝ You’re pregnant? ❞

Wanda sits on the edge of their bed; her green eyes stare at the wall in front of her. She fidgets with the rings on her fingers, unknowing of how to process the information of a sudden surprise .  .  . or how to break this certain news to her partner-in-crime. All the signs were there — she’d been late to start with, followed by an increased appetite and abrupt mood swings. Not to mention, she’d been acting unusually shy around Bucky — even something so little as a glance made her knees weak and cheeks pinken. Her suspicions were confirmed by the positive pregnancy test, as well as the expert screening given by her doctor earlier that day. At this moment, Wanda didn’t know whether she wanted to laugh or cry. How could she be expected to bring a life into the world given her past ? Was she strong enough to raise a child ?? What if it ended up like her ? For the first time in a long time, Wanda felt fear. Anxiety gripped her insides like a vice, her insecurities kicking in full gear.

And she doesn’t know how she’s going to tell Bucky or how he’ll react. Their entire lives were about to change. Contemplating whether she should wait to share or not, Wanda ultimately decides it’s for the best to tell him right away. He’s bound to find out sooner or later given her slowly-growing stomach. She lets out a breath and goes searching for him in their humble abode. ❝ I have something to tell you, ❞ she says in an uneasy tone when she finally finds him.

Wanda casts her gaze to the ground unable to quite meet him in the eye. Mustering the courage to speak up, she whispers it at first — a quiet ❝ I’m pregnant ❞ — so low, she wondered for a moment if he had heard her. When there’s no immediate response, she almost says it again, louder; though Bucky saves her the trouble by breaking the cultivating silence. She finally looks up at him, in part to gauge his reaction to the news, and nods, confirming. ❝ I’m pregnant. I just found out. ❞ She reaches for his hands and puts them on her still-flat but expanding belly. ❝ There is a chance we might have twins because I’m a twin .  .  . but, I think we’ll have to wait until I can get my first ultrasound to find out. Are you happy ?? ❞
