Could I request either more asexual Cecil or a canasta game between Cecil and Josie for a tipsy ficlet, please? (you can pick whichever strikes your fancy) :D
[ahhhh this took forever sorry, also I’m not sure if this is actually good or if I’m just tired. Everything sounds better at 2 am am I right?]
Cecil returned the usual sweet peck on the lips, but instead of wrapping his arms around Carlos, he just flopped lifelessly against him. It would be unfair to say he was pouting. Cecil Palmer was a grown man. He did not pout.
He was definitely frowning, though.
“Hey,” Carlos said, pulling back to see Cecil’s face. “What’s up? Aside from the sky.”
He looked expectantly at Cecil. “Ehhh?” he added.
“People are awful, did you know that, Carlos? They’re just–so rude. Ugh.”
Carlos released him and crossed to the sofa, sat, and patted the cushion next to him.
Cecil settled in beside him, curled his feet underneath his legs, and rested his head on Carlos’ shoulder. “Everyone should just–mind their own business. I try to share something meaningful, you know? When you came home? And everywhere I go people are making comments. Do you know–” he picked up his head and looked at Carlos in frustration. “Do you know how many people keep giving me looks and saying stuff about how we were up all night talking. He pitched his voice in the way he did when mocking something Steve said. “‘Oh yeah, suuure, talking!’ And then they like elbow me in the ribs or wink or something.”
He set his head back on Carlos’ shoulder and sighed.
“Like I wouldn’t just want to be in bed with you, talking about a future we actually have together, here. Like I wouldn’t want to just be in bed with you talking about anything at all.”
Carlos said nothing. Cecil appreciated that–moments when Carlos just let him talk himself into a state of calm, little bursts of discontent puffing out and dissipating into the air.
“How boring their lives must be if they don’t have anyone they can just–just lay with and hold hands and talk all night.”
Carlos wrapped his arms around Cecil’s shoulders and squeezed his arm affectionately.
Cecil sighed again. “Oh well. Whatever. But if one more person winks at me I might just crack, Carlos, I might just lose it.”
“You won’t,” Carlos whispered. “The only opinions that matter are in this room.”
