What I would give for this town to take a little breather... Oh cher.
“If anything that’s about to leave that mouth of yours is connected to that stupid fucking article, then please zip it, turn around and walk away because I’m not discussing it with anyone.” He was already far too exhausted to meddle with more people and their questions today, as if any of them even owned the right to read about his and Rhiannon’s last encounter together before her disapperance. He had trusted Bryan with it for the sake of leads, not for them to give it away the moment he wasn’t looking.
I should probably get to work on my article, but my instincts are telling me to get back into my pajamas's and crack open a bottle of bourbon. I blame the weather.
Her head throbbing, a gift from another sleepless night, her sunglasses shielding her puffy eyes from having to bear the fluorescence lights that seemed to make the invisible needle pierce her brain. Ignoring the blatant stares, she knew she looked jackass, but who else could pull off the jackass look better than her? Craning her neck to look if Rhi was at their table for their usual morning lunch. Not brunch, she refused to call it brunch. But the table was empty. Loudly clearing her throat as she swallowed her disappointment down, she called for the closest person’s attention. “Hello sweetheart, mind if I sit? And while I’m sitting here, you haven’t by any chance seen this gorgeous gal lately?” She asked, waving a missing person’s flyer with the sexiest picture of Rhiannon Lulu could find in the person’s face.
Dakota wasn’t sure how long she’d been absentmindedly fiddling with the same cup behind the counter, but it had to be a while considering how deep in thought she’d been. Whoever was now speaking to her had had to repeat themselves quite a few times to pull her out of it, and finally get her to set the glass down. “Sorry, I was just- Can I help you?”
Unless you buy me a couple of gingerbread men, I’m leaving. I’m not really feeling the Christmas spirit this year.
“Oh, the joy of not being on a deadline.” Closing her eyes for a brief moment, Lyra released a relieved sigh. “I think this calls for a drink.”

Rather than immediately approaching any of the other partygoers and burgeoning into the lovely little social butterfly most knew them to be, Cameron decided to take their time and look around a bit, even if the Inferno was all too familiar to them. In situations like this one, the bartender had often found that sticking to the edges and keeping one’s eyes peeled offered greater benefits than thrusting oneself directly into the tangle of conversation.
In their years working at any of Darius’ clubs, invitations to a party they didn’t have to work at was all too rare. And, with the club hired out for the rest of the night and transformed into something far greater than they’d seen in quite some time, Cam relished in the opportunity to savor the extravagance before it disappeared when the night was over. The free flow of alcohol and the steady stream of beautiful people circulating through the room spoke of an opulence which was difficult to find around Ashbourne, unless the home belonged to that damned Irving family; one had to wonder if the host had hired models to flit around, laughing and chatting away from here to eternity.
So, when a server passed by with a tray of sparkling liquids housed in delicate crystal and Cameron reached out to take one, smiling lightly in the realization that they wouldn’t be doing any of the dirty work tonight. They brought the drink to their lips, and continued to wind through the building, eyes wide and bright, on the lookout for anything particularly interesting.
