Large grey sheets of papers were sent flying in the wind. Torn to pieces. Mixed with dust and ashes. He saw the crowd, he understood. His father's work, and his friends too, had fallen here, their skin turned blue.

BIO.

Was it luck, that had Mercutio unable to get out of bed that morning? Staying up drinking until 4 am was no behavior for a man his age to have, and his reputation as unreliable had been the reason for whispers and gossip.

Few things could have been as sobering as the tragedy that struck his father's business.

It had always been agreed that Mercutio would one day take the direction of the newspaper. This had been the property of the Crouches for generations. They insisted that their newspaper was a serious source of information, and recruited only journalists who had proven themselves.

Mercutio's mistake was to think that he had more time. He had studied journalism, among muggles, after Hogwarts. Although he was the son of the owner, he had to roll up his sleeves to find a place in the columns of the newspaper, but he did not push too hard to get his name on the front page pieces. Arts and Culture were good enough for him.

It was easily said that the man was not as serious as his father wished him to be. Although he could prove to be brilliant as long as he wrote pieces regarding the arts, Mercutio's nose wrinkled when asked to dedicate his time to more pressing subjects such as politics, the economy or anything regarding the current state of the world he lived in.

Considering himself a tourist rather than a member of it, the attack on the newsroom felt like a slap in the face, and a wake up call.

He who loved dedicating evenings and nights to his paintbrushes and canvases, to his friends and bottomless glasses, would now be spending his time in the office at the back of the newsroom, with a view on Diagon Alley he would never take the time to enjoy.

all you wanted to do was leave the country, travel the unknown path, explore the wonders and riches of great cities and art and music. it’s just a shame duty dashed those dreams with a sign of a contract and the cold, heartless weight of a band around your finger. you left the country but it wasn’t what you dreamed of. now you face the future in a ruined reputation- can you grasp back what was your life or will you fail and live the remainder in shame. 

BIO.

Gwenivere was the youngest of three and the only female. She was a princess, at least, in her fathers eyes. And princesses were supposed to grow up and marry princes and raise little princes and princesses of their own. She knew nothing more than fine dresses and afternoon teas and lessons from tutors giving her all the skills she would need to become the perfect wife. With two older brothers, her protection carried on even throughout school and she was barely within reach of those who weren’t desirable. Her betrothal had been arranged since she was nine, the last thing the Burke’s needed was their daughter’s head being turned by others. She was a good student, her grades nothing less than E’s but her greatest passion was art. Whenever she was allowed, she begged to be taken to galleries and her spare time was in front of a easel. 

When she left school, she hardly had more than a few months until her betrothal became marriage and she had met the man she was to spend the rest of her life with. Vincenzo Issani was the son of a powerful Italian pureblood family. A great connection for the Burkes who made their name in purveyors of all things unique and magical. She was married on her 18th birthday and soon moved from her home town of Wales to the warm, foreign shores of Tuscany. High up in the hills of Volterra she settled into her life. But it wasn’t roses and castles and the vision she had imagined upon becoming his wife. He was cruel and mean and their marriage was not of love, but of expectation. She hid the pain behind the wealth and idea of making her family proud. But in truth she felt like a trophy, paraded and shown when needed then discarded and ignored when not. She felt a failure, being unable to provide her wifely duty of heirs and his disdain for her grew with every month and year which passed. There was no hiding of mistresses he soon took to their bed. 

She ended up coming home for a small visit, a relative was sick and she was summoned for the final days. Back home, she had freedom and she grasped every moment she could get enjoying the brief freedom life of her marriage. Within a couple of weeks she acted dishonestly herself when a man caught her eye in a local town. Wanting and needing to be loved, she fell into his bed and upon returning back to Italy brought more than just her shame with her. It was evident within a couple of months she was with child and it seemed Vincenzo's previous behaviour ended with the idea she was baring his child. With the exception of still seeing other women. But his hatred seemed to ebb with the knowledge he was to become a father. If only it was to be true. 

And she hadn’t been ignorant to news of her homeland and of Tom Riddle. His reach was spreading throughout Europe and the men constantly visiting their home and meeting Vincenzo dropped hints of a movement. Even her brothers had mentioned in letters of the man and her suspicions grew with every passing day that her husband was willing to be involved. The day she had given birth was the day the attack happened on the Daily Prophet and exaltation was spread across the entire family and close connections which was more than just an arrival of a babe Did Vincenzo know something about the attack? She had no idea but she knew he would be able to tell within a couple of months that their son was not his, that he bore no facial features and Gwenivere knew she couldn’t remain there. 

She’s recently fled back home, but her troubles aren’t far on her heels. With a son not born of her husband and secrets threatening to spill from her lips- her motivation is simply to stay alive and do the one thing no one had ever attempted before. Divorce her husband and retain a small chance of her reputation. And maybe perhaps help in stopping any more attacks.
