Prompt:  Can you write (what I thought was missing from the good ending where everyone lives) Chris comforting Ashley? Like putting ice on her black eye please? (I ship them so much it hurts)

Ashley sat, shivering despite the extra jacket Chris had draped over her, covered in a thin layer of blood and bruises. Along with the other survivors, she awaited her interview. Some of her friends looked shocked, the fire of the lodge still burning bright in their eyes. Others stared forward stoically, void of emotion and feeling. Ashley, however, clung to Chris’ arm for dear life, not entirely sure if she wanted to cry or curl into herself. She felt like a ghost of herself.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” He asked for what had to be the millionth time. “How’s your eye?”

“Hurts” was all she could manage to say.

Without hesitation, Chris ripped off a section of his shirt and filled it with snow for her. “Sit still,” instructed the blond as he moved to put the snow on her black eye.

“Ah, jeeze that stings.” Ashley reflexively swatted away the makeshift compress, jumping at the pain its freezing pressure inflicted. She was even more skittish than usual, even the softest noise or the slightest brush upon her skin making her flinch in fear. Every touch and sound felt like it could be her last.

Chris lifted the ice for a second to inspect the injury closer. Josh had really done a number on her eye; it was swollen and deep purple, still fresh from impact. “I know, I’m sorry.” Chris said quietly. “But you have to get the swelling down.”

Ashley groaned and took the ice compress applying it lightly on her injured eye. She winced once more as it touched her, causing her to lean into Chris’ arms. God, where would Ashley even be if it weren’t for him? Dead, or traumatized out of her mind probably. Just his presence now, his arms slowly wrapping around her, was enough to pull her back from the edge.

There, nestled into him, it stuck her how close she was to losing him. All this time, she had taken him for granted. She’d never took the time to appreciate the way he hugged her, how he always knew how to make her smile. Ashley couldn’t imagine being alone right now.

“I’m so glad you’re alive.” She whispered, gazing at him with the one eye she had uncovered. “I don’t care what happens after this. I don’t care where I go. I just want you to be there with me.”

Chris, as drained as he was, smiled weakly and gave a nod. “That’s good, because I don’t plan on being anywhere else.” He looked like he wanted to say something else, but before he could, a police ranger opened the station door, motioning for Chris to enter. Tightening her grip on Chris, her good eye widened.

“I’ll be back soon, I promise.” He assured as he cupped her cheek. “I’m not going to leave you.”

Ashley/Chris

A number of you guys asked for this, so here it is!

General:

How long will they last? – Forever, given one of them doesn’t screw it up with their inability to deal with emotions like normal humans.

How quickly did/will they fall in love? – They fall in love so quickly it’s almost embarrassing. Or at least it would be if they could get their love stuck heads out of the clouds.

How was their first kiss? – Well, we all know what their first kiss was like. But their first kiss outside of Blackwood happened a full two weeks after the incident. Ashley     had all but given up on them, thoroughly convinced that he had changed his     mind about her. Likewise, because she did bring it up, Chris thought that     she considered the kiss a mistake. It wasn’t until Sam literally locked     them in a room together that they finally told each other how they felt.     Finally, Chris initiated the kiss. It was rather quick and innocent, but     it let her know his intentions.

Wedding:

Who proposed? - Technically Chris proposes. He’d been prompted and primed for weeks for this moment, relying on Sam to help make it perfect for her. Of course, Ashley knew that it was going to happen as soon as Chris told Sam about it. Sam had been feeding Ashley’s suggestions to Chris, so she ended up planning her entire proposal.

Who is the best man/men? – The best man is Josh, of course. Taking it as his moment to make it up for all of the terrible things he did to Chris, he works tirelessly to make sure that it’s exactly the way Chris wants it. Of course, Chris is not really a hard man to please. Whenever Josh asks about what he wants, he just says “I just want to be married to Ashley,” which causes the other groomsmen in the room (Mike and Matt) to fake retching sounds.

Who is the braid’s maid(s)? – The maid of honor is Sam. Try as she might to help plan a wedding, she never quite gets the hang of it. Emily and Jess, the other bridesmaids, soon take over maid of honor duties. Sam doesn’t mind; this means she can spend more time trying to calm Ashley down when she gets freaked out.

Who did the most planning? – Again, Emily and Jess. They seem to derive some kind of energy from it.

Who stressed the most? – Ashley by far. “What if this is a mistake? I don’t want to ruin it” becomes her mantra on the wedding day. Shaking her head, Sam reassures her that “this is the polar opposite of ruining it. You just worry about walking in those white heals.”

How fancy was the ceremony? - Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big.

Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? – Ashley and Chris planned to invite everyone to their wedding, but somehow, after Jess and Emily got ahold of the guestbook, there were a few less people at the wedding than they expected.

Sex:

Who is on top? – Half of the time Chris is, and the other half Ashley is. It really just depends on what mood they’re in and what kind of roleplay they’re trying.

Who is the one to instigate things? – Ashley. They’re both pretty terrible at picking up when the other wants to bone though, so she ends up having to just outright ask him.

How healthy is their sex life? – For the first few weeks that they dated, they were going at it pretty much nonstop. After they successfully dealt with the sexual tension, they leveled out. Usually, their sex life is pretty healthy, given that no one has a big exam to study for.Barely touch themselves let alone each other | 2 | 3 | 4 | Once a couple     weeks, nothing overboard | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They are humping each other on the couch right now

How long do they normally last?– It depends on how into it they are. If they set aside a whole night for sex, they can last for a long time. However, if it’s just a spur of the moment thing, they tend to be quicker.

Do they make sure each person gets an equal amount of orgasms? – No, Chris is way too generous in bed. He is constantly concerned with whether or not she’s having a good time/is comfortable, which ends up ultimately creating an imbalance.

How rough are they in bed? - Softer than a butterfly on the back of a bunny | 2 | 3 | 4 | The bed’s shaking and squeaking every time | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Their dirty talk is so vulgar it’d make Dwayne Johnson blush. Also, the wall’s so weak it could collapse the next time they do it.

How much cuddling/snuggling do they do? - No touching after sex | 2 | 3 | 4 | A little spooning at night, or on the     couch, but not in public | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They snuggle and kiss more often than a teen couple on their fifth date to a pillow factory.

Children:

How many children will they have naturally? – Three. Two girls and one boy. They name the girls Hannah and Beth in memory of Josh’s sisters. The boy is named Scott, which may or may not have to do with their obsession for Scott Pilgrim.

How many children will they adopt? – None. If Ashley is having kids, she wants them to be her own.

Who gets stuck with the most diapers? – Chris. Ashley gets him to do it by pulling out the argument “I had them inside me for nine months, you can change their diapers for a while.” How is he supposed to argue with that?

Who is the stricter parent? – Ashley. She is always worried that they’re going to hurt themselves in weird ways. If she had it her way, they wouldn’t ever leave the house without at least three layers of bubble wrap.

Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? – Ashley. In addition, she makes them carry around antiseptic spray and band aids just in case they trip or fall down the stairs.

Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? – Chris. He is really terrible at making them lunches though, so he usually ends up throwing a lunchables and an apple in a lunchbox before they walk out of the door for school.

Who is the more loved parent? – They’re both loved, but in different ways. While they know that Ashley only worries because she cares, they would prefer she trust them not to get into trouble every time they leave her sight. As for Chris, well he is the absolute epitome of an embarrassing dad. His dad jokes only get worse with time. He always knows how to make his kids laugh, but intentionally embarrassing them in front of their friends has gotten him into trouble more than once.

Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? Ashley and Chris go together. They are one of the few parents who go together. The other people there think it’s because they like to do things as a team, but really they know that both of them going lessens the likelihood that they forget important information.

Who cried the most at graduation? – Ashley sobbed like a baby at graduation. The kids don’t know which one is more embarrassing: Ashley with her running mascara or Chris, who runs up to the front isle to take picture after picture of them.

Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? – Ashley. She is super worried that they’ll get harassed by thugs in prison, even though they’re being held in the front of the police station. Chris suggests that she wait an hour before getting them to teach them a lesson, earning him a withering glare.

Cooking: 

Who does the most cooking? – Ashley. She’s not going to be on top chef any time soon, but she can make simple enough foods. Sometimes, if she’s feeling festive, she finds a cookbook and makes something really nice for the two of them.

Who is the most picky in their food choice? – Ashley. Chris will put absolutely anything that loosely resembles food in his mouth. It never fails to surprise and upset Ashley. “If you keep eating like that you’re going to die by the time you’re thirty” she insists. He just responds by stating “Ash, what is the use of living past thirty if it means I have to give up ice cream sundaes?”

Who does the grocery shopping?     - Ashley. On her never ending quest to get him to eat healthier, she makes sure to get lots of organic foods for him. Ashley has a huge sweet tooth though, so she always ends up sneaking in candy for herself.

How often do they bake desserts? – All the time. Desserts are pretty much the only thing Chris can make.

Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? – Meat eaters for sure. Ashley tried to go vegetarian for a week to appease Sam, but gave up on the third day and ate a bacon cheeseburger. It was delicious.

Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? – Chris. He has Ashley’s favorite restaurant cater it. They sit at the table to eat together, but they usually migrate to the TV where they watch the Princess Bride for the millionth time.

Who is more likely to suggest going out? – Ashley. Any day that she doesn’t have to cook is a good day. It doesn’t take much cajoling to get Chris to agree; he dislikes doing dishes almost as much as he dislikes broccoli.

Who is more likely to burn the house down accidentally while cooking? - Chris. Bad things happen when Chris tries to cook. You can find a fic about that here.

Chores: 

Who cleans the room? – Ashley. She hates a messy room, so she always puts things back exactly where they were and makes sure to clean up her mess as she goes.

Who is really against chores? – Chris. It’s not so much that he’s against chores, but rather that he doesn’t realize how messy he can be. Once Ashley reminds him to, he is more than willing to tidy up around the house.

Who cleans up after the pets? – Chris. Watching him try to give the cats a bath is hilarious; somehow, he ends always ends up soaking wet in the bathtub, the cats resting perfectly dry on the floor.

Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? – Chris. What Ashley doesn’t know can’t hurt her…

Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? – Ashley. She walks around the house and straightens up the same thing that she “fixed” when she walked through ten minutes ago.

Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? – Chris. And he totally kept it.

Misc:

Who takes the longer showers/baths? – Chris. For a guy, he is surprisingly concerned with personal hygiene. Ashley is not about to     complain about that.

Who takes the dog out for a walk? – Ashley. It’s no secret that she isn’t very good at dealing with stress, so she uses this time to really unwind, not to mention spend some quality time with her pet.

How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? – They usually don’t do more than a small tree and some lawn ornaments. However, Ashley always burns a cinnamon scented Christmas candle that gets them into the holiday spirit.

What are their goals for the relationship? – They are always concerned with keeping the other happy. This is a good thing for the most part, but sometimes they can compromise what they want for something they think the other wants.

Who is most likely to sleep till noon? – Chris. If left alone, he will sleep until two in the afternoon. Ashley has to lure him out of bed with the promise of IHOP to get him up.

Who plays the most pranks? – Chris. Knowing how much Ashley hates surprises, they are usually just little ones that make her roll her eyes but smile nonetheless.

“Oh my God. You’re in love.”

Ashley almost spit out the tea she was drinking.

“Excuse me?” She choked as she coughed on the warm liquid.

Sam grinned devilishly, her eyes wide. “You do! You love him. You love Chris.”

“Shut up!” She whispered furiously, smacking Sam lightly on the arm. “He’s going to hear you!”

“Is he? Does he not already know that you are totally in love with him?” Sam replied, getting increasingly louder.

“I am not!”

Sam nodded with her trademark smirk. As she looked around frantically for any signs that Chris had heard, Ashley’s cheeks turned a shade of deep red. She hated that Sam knew. She hated that she even loved him in the first place. They were barely even a month into their relationship and she had already fallen head over heels. This was so not like her; Ashley was not the kind of person to fall in love with people overnight. She was logical and critical. But there was no escaping this. Ashley was in love with Chris.

She hid her face in her hands. “Oh god, you’re right. Ugh, how pathetic is that.”

“What?” Sam questioned, furrowing her brow in confusion. “You’re not pathetic.”

Ashley shook her head firmly. “Yes I am. This is the very textbook definition of pathetic. I mean look at me Sam! He went to go get snacks like two minutes ago and I already miss him! That’s sad. That’s pitiful. That’s-”

“Sweet! It’s cute Ashley.”

Unconvinced, Ashley sighed, her tacit self-judgement almost tangible.

“Oh come on Ash.” Sam continued, placing a supportive hand on her shoulder. “This is Chris we’re talking about here, your Chris. You two were more meant to be together than chocolate and peanut butter.”

“But it’s embarrassing!”

“No, it’s adorable. And really well justified judging from that life-or-death display of affection he showed for you at the lodge. Twice.”

Ashley nodded weakly, clearing away the hair from her face. “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”

“Hell yeah I am. Don’t turn this into a bad thing. This is very good.” She shook Ashley’s shoulder gently. “And it’s no fun teasing you if you’re upset about it.”

Ashley let out a short laugh and tossed Sam’s hand off of her shoulder. “There it is.”

Chris reappeared through the door, carrying mountains of snacks in each hand. “I come bearing popcorn and Doritos.” He said as he sat down on the couch next to Ashley.

“Oh I love popcorn.” Sam replied, looking pointedly at Ashley with a mischievous glint in her eye. “Don’t you just love popcorn Ash?”

She replied by blushing furiously, the real curse of the redhead.

“Okay then. You can get first dibs.” Said Chris, clueless.

“You know what? I think I actually have to go. Yeah… I forgot I had a whole thing going on tonight.” Sam grabbed her bag and lifted herself from the couch. “You two have a good time though.”

Ashley mouthed a grateful ‘thank you’ to her as she walked to the door. She flashed Ashley a smile and a wink before closing the door behind her.

“She was being weird. Why was she being so weird?” Chris asked, puzzled.

“She was being a whole lot of something alright.”

“No way. It’s your turn.”

“Chris, do you remember what happened last time we played this game? You got so mad because I won that you called me a cheater and sulked out of the bookstore without even buying anything.”

“That was so different.” Chris retorted proudly. “It is a statistical fact that you are going to get more replies because you’re a cute girl in a bookstore. It was pretty much cheating.”

Ashley rolled her eyes playfully. “Would it help even the scale if I said you were acting like a girl right now?”The game was ‘the howdy game.’ Essentially, the goal was the say the word ‘howdy’ in greeting to everyone passing on the street. If the person said the word ‘howdy’ back, that player got a point. Chris loved playing the game, presumably because he turned everything, even walking back from dinner, into a competition. Unfortunately for him, Ashley always won, which she did not hesitate to rub in his face daily.

“I think you’re just scared that I might win.”

Ashley let out a dry laugh. “You couldn’t even win if you were bribing them.”“Care to prove me wrong?”

“Fine.” She replied, tossing part of her hair over her shoulder. “Prepare to be schooled.” A petite woman walked towards them at that moment, carrying an empty Starbucks cup in her right hand. Ashley smiled warmly, putting on her friendliest face.

“Howdy!” She trilled, throwing up wave in greeting. The woman glanced up at Ashley and gave her a cold, displeased look before speeding up to pass her on the street.

“God damn. I think I just got frostbite from that.” Chris chimed in, a note of satisfaction in his tone.

“That was so rude! She definitely needs more coffee in that cup of hers.”

“Now tell me, professor, how exactly did you just school me? Really, I feel like I should be taking notes on this.”

Ashley huffed and shoved her hands in her jacket pockets. “Fine then, I’d like to see you do better.”

He nodded, eyeing a chipper looking elderly woman, a safe bet in Chris’ mind. The woman shuffled forward, pushing her walker ahead of her. “Howdy.” Chris addressed her. The woman smiled, nodding her head in greeting.

“Hello young man.”

“HA!” Ashley laughed. “She didn’t say it back. That doesn’t count.”

“At least she didn’t look like she wanted to kill me!”

“Okay, okay, let’s just call it a draw.” She conceded, linking arms with him in a gesture of goodwill.

“Fair enough. Though I bet I could kick your ass at 20 questions.”

“You are so on.”

“Am I supposed to be scared?”

It was October 20th, and Ashley and Chris were shopping for Halloween costumes. Since this was the first Halloween they were spending together, they decided to get matching costumes. Well, really Chris decided while Ashley humored him; Ashley wasn’t nearly as into Halloween as Chris was. He loved everything about that time of year: the ‘scary’ movies, the sweater weather, the food, everything. And as adorable as Ashley thought that was, she did not want to shop all day for something she could just make at home.

Chris tossed the zombie mask he had grabbed. “Man, the costumes this year suck.”

Ashley walked ahead of him, inspecting the shelves. She had to admit, the costume quality had declined severely; there was nothing for her to wear that didn’t involve lace or fishnets.

“Why don’t you wear this?” She suggested, grabbing a sexy hello kitty costume. “That would terrifying.”

“Come on, I would look fabulous! I think I could rock that pink miniskirt.”

Laughing, she put back the costume and resumed looking, absently running her hands across the cheap fringe of a cowboy outfit. They had been at this for what seemed like hours. Ashley started to think she was one more Game of Thrones costume away from giving up on Halloween altogether.

“Hey Ash,” Chris began, “thanks for coming out with me today. I know this isn’t really your thing.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Nothing screams ‘Ashley’ like a sexy nun outfit.” She retorted, eyeing a costume that would make a stripper look modest. “Blasphemy is so in this season.”

“Seriously, I really appreciate you doing this with me.”

“Chris, there is very little on this earth that I wouldn’t do for you.”

“Would you go as a sexy nun?” He teased.

“As long as you went as a Chippendales style priest.”

“We are going straight to hell.”

“Yeah,” She replied, taking his hand, “But at least were going together.”
