Something I noticed and was Unwell about with the ending of Project Hail Mary was how Rocky's suit would affect their communication. Everyone constant talks about "yayyy it means they get to hug now!" without considering the fact that a large part of Eridian communication requires being able to rub and tap on their limbs to generate sounds (for example, the rattling that accompanies their goodbye motion) or just for body language purposes. With Rocky's suit, he is unable to do this, but he and Grace still communicate without difficulty. Which means they not only found a way for them to be able to hug, they actively reinvented language to do it! So determined were they to be able to spend time together that they rewrote not only a spoken language, but the body language that goes along with it!

With the hinting at the next life series happening, I thought I'd chip in with my two cents about teams! (Half of these are motivated by "it would be so funny" lmao)

Thinking about Scott and Owen promising Avid that if he joined the vampires and proved his loyalty, he would be safe, he would be given a home, he would gain a family. Thinking about Avid starting out by proving his loyalty in the most extreme way he can without killing anyone: taking their entire holy water supply, their main defense, their hope for cure, for an end to this nightmare. He took the very symbol of the humans' power over the vampires away, putting them behind days at just the right point in the conflict where their every bottle needs to be used in attack or defense so they don't even have the chance to stock up. Thinking about Avid making a point to get close to Owen, to try and earn his trust, to kiss up to him and gain his approval, opening up to Owen about things he's not told to many people at all, making himself vulnerable to prove he's not a threat but rather someone to be depended on. Thinking about how, despite this, Owen never allowed Avid a place in the castle, undermining him wherever he could, pushing again and again that they didn't want or need anyone else in the coven so Avid should just get out. Thinking about Avid starting the ep asking for assurance that no one will kill him, specifically Owen and Pyro, and Scott promising again that so long as he was loyal and useful, he would be safe, trusting that his coven will follow his lead like they always do. Thinking about Pyro and Owen letting Avid get close to them, letting him trust them, pretending they were following Scott's lead in taking care of Avid, in actually caring about him. Thinking about Avid having no idea what was happening until it was too late, until he barely even had the chance for a final thought, for a final plea. Thinking about how the only reason he died was that he was loud and correct and they simply didn't like him. He was loyal, he proved that by stealing the Holy water. He wasn't a danger, he proved that by being absolutely useless in a fight. He wasn't a liability, he proved that by agreeing to stay behind when he was weak so he wouldn't be in the way. They simply didn't like him. And he died for it.

Something about how he's been yelling the entire time that all vampires are monsters.

Something about how Pyro said being a vampire brings out the deepest darkest parts of you.

Something about how Owen said Avid has the makings of a monster in him.

Avid has such a clear internalised hatred towards all vampires, even ones he claims to be okay with (mostly Shelby, but see the way he reacted when he found out about Apo and (supposedly) Legs as well). He's spent his basically whole life convinced all vampires are monsters, and now that he is one, well maybe now he's a monster too.

He's been trying to move past what he's done and what's been done to him. He's horrified at what he's become and what he's becoming. He's realising that there's no going back to what he was before. He afraid maybe there's nothing to go back to, maybe he's been a monster all along.

The dark descent started a long, long, long time ago. That isn't what this is. No, this is the landing, rough and violent and explosive and with a blast radius that covers the whole town.

All I will say is this. Avid has been actively and purposely paralleling Owen from day one. He is the only mirror Owen can see himself in. And the first thing Owen did after getting turned was kill the entire town.
