Summary: In an alternate universe, Fearne decides she doesn't want the Spark of Rau'shan. Orym decides to take it in her stead. Ashton tries to be there for them both.
Soooooo... I originally started writing this last year for Ashrym Week, using the prompt: Orym Takes the Shard. I kinda lost my inspiration for it for a while after Fearne changed her mind about the Spark in-game. I still really liked the idea for the AU, though, so I've been working on it on and off ever since. 😅

Orym goes searching for the creature that has been terrorizing his people. But perhaps monsters aren't always what they seem.
There was a monster in these mountains, Orym had been told. A creature of violence, of wickedness. A creature like the one that had taken Will from him. A creature that couldn't be reasoned with, couldn't be talked down, that had to be killed before it could destroy you.
There was a monster in these mountains and the monsters had already taken so many. They'd taken Annie's children, two years ago. Of course, she’d struggled to feed them even before that, even with what little help Orym and his mother and the other villagers were able to give, so maybe they were lucky the monsters had got there first.
There was a monster in these mountains and monsters ruined crops and stole livestock, flooded the river or dammed it up, and made it so hard for anyone to survive in the valley below. The king still took his tithe as usual, of course; someone had to fight against the monsters.
Using the ashrym week free day to get this dumb flower shop owner/bouncer au out of my dumb brain. There’s a lot more to the idea than this. Orym is actually a Private Investigator using Fearnes Flower shop (I want her to call it ‘The Soup Store’) as cover for his investigation. And of course a block away is a nightclub that Ashton and FCG work at. They all meet. Romance, Shenanigans and Mystery ensue.

It’s that time of year again… Ashrym week! I meant to get this out over the weekend but life, ya know? Anyway, here are this years prompts. Starts 12/3 and runs through 12/9. Free day is on Thursday. This timeframe correlates with the first time Orym called Ashton Ash.
Do as many or as few as you’d like. Fic, poem, art, interpretive dance, get creative. Use #ashrymweek2023. Can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
