New MC for HPMA!! Her name is Ash and she’s an American muggleborn!

tbh I haven’t looked at any of the released content so I don’t know a single thing about the game, but I got hella hyped seeing all the new MCs and got down to making a new kid myself ouo

Some more info on her under the cut ^_^

Born from a one-night stand her no-maj mother had with a (then unknown to her) American wizard. She never knew her father.

Moved to England from California after her mom was transferred to the London branch of the company she works for. 

Exhibited uncontrolled underage magic since she was six, but it went undetected until she was ten and living in London--mostly due to her proximity to the British Ministry of Magic. 

She’s very excited to go into Hogwarts and learn all about magic--after thinking she was just very clumsy and unlucky half her life, it’s comforting to know it was her magic and not her that was the problem, and that she can control it, too. 

Really into punk culture and rock--when My Chemical Romance goes active, she immediately gets hooked (hence the shirt)

Likes to dye her hair every now and then--every year or so. Her natural hair colour is blonde.

1. How does your character think of their father? What do they hate and love about him? What influence - literal or imagined - did the father have?

Ash never knew her father v.v She doesn’t really care to learn about him.

4. What type of discipline was your character subjected to at home? Strict? Lenient?

The usual; lectures, grounding, confiscated toys and stuff. It built frustration more than obedience, and now that Ash is in her rebellious phase, it’s getting less and less effective. 

10. Is your character street-smart, book-smart, intelligent, intellectual, slow-witted?

Ash is very intelligent! But given her lack of knowledge on many of the subjects she has to deal with now, she doesn’t have much in the way of street-smarts or book-smarts. She’s a very quick learner though, and is getting the hang of it with ease.

13. Did they like school? Teachers? Schoolmates?

Hogwarts is like heaven for her. Ash always felt like she was in the wrong place--her latent magic always got in the way of personal relationships and development in the muggle world, she never fit in. 

At Hogwarts, where she learned she could actually control the mishaps and chaos that seemed to follow her around? She feels right. She feels normal, like she actually belongs here. It’s everything she could ask for.

2. Their mother? How do they think of her? What do they hate? Love? What influence - literal or imagined - did the mother have?

Ash’s relationship with her mother is very distant v.v 

Carolyn Malus wasn’t really ready to be a mother when she had Ash. She was conceived from a one-night stand, so the father never stuck around. Then there was her demanding job, her own poor parents, and a ton of other hurdles life threw at her. 

She wasn’t really involved in Ash’s life–work and obligation wouldn’t let her be. She put Ash through school, helped out where she could, bought her gifts. Stood by her through the supernal weirdness that always seemed to follow her around. She never really connected to Ash–got close to her. She was afraid to, always keeping her at arm’s length, never really able to figure out how to understand her. And then the representative from Hogwarts came, explained what the strangeness about her daughter was. The world she belonged to. And from that point on, Carolyn more or less stopped trying to understand her–and hoped that Ash would find what’s best for herself on her own.

Ash resents her for it–though she also understands why she was that way. Their relationship will always be… complicated.

11. How do they see themselves: as smart, as intelligent, uneducated?

Ash doesn’t believe she’s very smart. She is very bright and intelligent, however, her lack of knowledge on the Wizarding World often makes her miss out on things that are considered common sense and knowledge, so she often needs things explained to her, which makes her feel less intelligent than she actually is. 

32. How does your character react to stress situations? Defensively? Aggressively? Evasively?

Frantically, I think? Something like that. She tends to panic in stressful situations, and has to make a conscious effort to keep her head on straight so she doesn’t make fatal mistakes. Although she does try to tackle the problems at hand head-on, they often feel like too much, and overwhelm her quite a bit as she gets in over her head. 

46. Is your character tall? Short? What about size? Weight? Posture? How do they feel about their physical body? 

Well, she’s taller than Lua, I’ll tell you that

I’d say she’s fairly tall? Around 5′8. She’s a little skinny, mildly athletic. Still scrawny. She comfortable in her own skin and doesn’t have any problems with physical body. Except that she’d like to be a little stronger so that she could do cool things like parkour or something. She’ll get there later, though
