Story: “Ahma & Alan” is a comedic/dramatic short film that follows a courageous grandma that has to travel from a rural, Taiwanese small town to the big city of Taipei to pull her American-born grandson, Alan, out of jail before he gets deported. . In LA looking to cast our lead male role, Alan, a Taiwanese American, for my short film “Ahma & Alan”. Auditions will be held this week and next in LA. Filming early December (2018) in Taiwan. Estimated production time 1-2 weeks. If selected for the role, round trip airfare from California (SF or LA) to Taiwan will be included. Non-union/union as well as non-actors (willing to learn) encouraged to apply. . The role: Alan - An American born Taiwanese male in his early 20s. He’s come back to Taiwan to care for his grandma and has taken an English teaching job to support himself. Alan hasn’t been back to Taiwan since he was a kid and is still adapting to the culture. Must be a fluent English speaker. Limited knowledge in Mandarin and Taiwanese (Minnan/Hokkien) a plus. Experience teaching and drawing (sketching, painting, fine arts…) a plus. .
