(This is a Sprace blog with a dash of Spralbert because IDK much about Albert at the present moment so Sprace is what you get)

Okay so the Delancey brothers are absolute monsters to poor Race because he’s openly gay and they’re homophobic jerks

They hurt him the most out of all the newsies and threaten the younger kids like Crutchie and Les to make him keep quiet about what they're doing

Race passes the injuries off as minor things (ran into a wall, tripped and hit his face on a bedpost, etc.)

After the Delanceys break his arm (or something equally bad), Race finally breaks down and tells Spot what’s been going on, and Spot loses. His. Mind.

He takes Race back to Manhattan himself purely so he can scream at Jack because how could you let this happen to him, Kelly?! Race is hurt bad, and you did nothing?! (In Jack’s defense, he has about 40 other boys to worry about. Also, they often come home looking a little beat up, so he didn’t think twice about it.)

While Davey (who has the most medical knowledge) fixes up all of Race’s injuries, Spot and Jack go after the Delanceys and make sure they know not to lay a single finger on Race again.

Honestly, this reads more like a oneshot than a full fic, but I'm not good at full fics, so this is what you get.
