trick or treat?
Treat — this may be like that one guy who gave a rotisserie chicken to the trick-or-treaters because this is a staple wasp food rather than a snack. Anyway, here’s some figs!
Standby Announcement.
First things first. In a few hours, I will be closing all ask boxes and submissions for the TimeCloneMike, SolarCloneMike, and Ebott’s Wake blogs. If these blogs are still standing on Tuesday, then I will reopen the asks and submissions then. If not, I’ll set up shop somewhere else. (Last I checked, this Twitter Poll was split between Discord and Dreamwidth for the Ebott’s Wake stuff, after one person requested to change their vote.)
Related to that: I will be clearing out some of the older asks that I never got around to for one reason or another. I will also be explaining my delays, if I can remember them.
Second, after mulling it over some more, I have decided to risk putting out my Discord ID for anyone on Tumblr who wants to reconnect on that platform. Some people I have already added as friends, and some have added me, and some people I know from common servers and channels.

Third...
Well.
I was never on LiveJournal. I wasn’t there for the Strikethrough and Boldthrough catastrophes. But I’ve been in online communities that have crumbled, or collapsed from in-fighting, or been upended by activity further up the chain.
I know how much it hurts to lose friends.
I know how much it hurts to lose work you have put so much effort into.
I know how much it hurts to lose a place that made you feel like you belonged.
I wasn’t at ground zero when Strikethrough happened, but I saw the way it changed the net. The bad AND the good. Archive Of Our Own exists because a lot of people decided they didn’t want another Strikethrough.
As Tumblr self-destructs, I see older communities open their arms, and new platforms rising from the ashes, to give writers and artists and musicians and animators and people who are just here for the memes a new place to stay. New homes for fans and fan content.
No matter what happens on Monday.
No matter what we lose.
No matter who we lose.
It has been an honor to write by your sides.
