10 is obviously way too young? Is that a question? 10 year olds can’t decide if they want to be super man or spider man when they grow up, they have no sense of reality. If 10 year olds can choose sexuality and gender why can’t they be allowed to be part of the age of consent if they are old enough to make decisions about their bodies, they are trying to normalize pedophilia slowly 🤷🏽♀️
Firstly, let me just say I made a typo in that post Zaya is actually 12 but I don't think that takes away from anything you have said. I definitely understand what you're saying. Be it 10 or 12 that isn't the age to make any live changing decisions.
However, I strongly disagree with the ideas you put forward about sexuality and pedophilia. That is not what this is!
Gender and sexuality at completely different. Both are a form of identity, however, Sexuality is a form interpersonal identity whereas Gender is an intrapersonal form of identity. Gender is about self and is therefore very critical to early development.
I think it is safe for a 10 or 12 year old to identify as another gender because I think those feelings come about by wanting to safely explore or experience the actions or behaviour associated with that gender roles. In other words, as a child you are innocent and ignorant of the idea of a boy or a girl, but let's say you find that things like playing with dolls or wearing dresses and skirts very much appeal to you, and someone says "those are things girls do". You will associate those things with being a girl and because your likes and dislikes are character-defining you will associate you character with that of a girl's. Of course that example was overly simplified but its gives the idea...
But like I said, I think 12 is too young for any life changing decisions like gender-corrective surgery or gender-suppressing hormones. However, its never too early to respect someone's feelings or thei pronouns!
