And I will tell you my:
First impression I just happened upon Maxim while slowly researching more of the Belmont Clan. Which is unsurprising because he is the best friend of one of them anyway. So obviously I took it as just that, your usual rival-ish friend guy, that's nice. That expression he gives off in his portrait art really helps with me, it's also very *eyebrow raise*. :)
Impression now I have to say Maxim is probably my most favorite non-Belmont character in the Castlevania series. While there is a recurring theme of characters close to the protagonist that succumb of the darkness surrounding Dracula, I felt a lot with Maxim's case.
Maybe it's because he's closely associated with a Belmont-- all of which whom I love so of course there's bias. But it's also how his intention was to wring the burden of having to live to defeat Dracula from his best friend, who he felt was growing further-n-further away.
Or maybe it's because despite all that, he still contributed to the never-ending cycle somehow. I know that his game was game after the success that was SotN, but something about how (coincidental or not) he parallels into Richter is just... wonderfully tragic.
I really-really love working with him, also the little bows in his design make it an instant plus for me. ( ' v')b
Favorite moment Playing as Maxim. Y'know I always look forward to running into him throughout the castle.
Fine, if I had to pick one. There's that one part in the game where Juste comes across Maxim and he's just staring off before you talk to him. Like even his sprite is swaying unsteadily. I dunno, I like my guys with a bit of vulnerability, heehee~ :)
Idea for a story No particular details really, but something with him and Julius may be nice to consider. (He may've also passed down the Speedrunner Gene.)

Favorite headcanon The idea that Maxim and Richter mirror each other is something that can feed my brain for miles. It really is so-- auuuuugh. (But this isn't really a headcanon if it's true now is it?)
