I've loved diving into Pendog recently!! It's amazing how much effort and love has been put into it and I can just feel the passion of every contributor!! I also really like how it's exploring some really relevant issues, it's helping me to think about them in a fun, but no less confronting, way if that makes sense??

My favourite character is definitely Slishy Slasher. She's the character I really needed at the moment and she's helped me to express myself and what's been going on for me to my psychologist when I was struggling to find the words. I love The Stars and Blue, it's a beautiful book which I relate to so heavily and it fills me with a lot of hope for the future. Thanks so much for sharing your art, it truly is making an impact!!

yeah!!!! I’m glad because a lot of media that’s vague about these issues it’s easy for the fandom to brush them off as people reading too into the story and themes.

For Pendog, because I’m not a coward, I wanted to be very direct with these themes of racism and fascist death cults while not hamming it up to the point they became nonsensical but also not being so serious that it became miserable to read through if that makes sense?

The people that want us dead are scary and dangerous but also the dumbest most idiotic people alive and sometimes they really are motivated by shit like “ohhh diners don’t serve soda the old fashioned way anymore…society has DETERIORATED” or “You colored queers are reading too deep into my favorite old/current show that was about imperialism it actually had NO themes and that’s why the past was better” <—-actual experience I have had as a queer person of color in fandom. It’s just ridiculous how stupid and childish they are you know? I really wanted to show the absurdity through a kinda believable right wing cult using their favorite old tv show as a rallying point.

I’m glad you enjoyed the stars and blue! I still hold a fondness in my heart for that zine it introduced me to a lot of people and honestly pendog wouldn’t exist without what I learned while working on it with friends (many of whom are part of the pendog team)

I come into this lovely menagerie dressed as a State Farm employee cause I have a red polo and khakis laying around. (Very unoriginal and last minute). But I come bearing weed brownies and I plan to feed them to Stretch and Mutt if I may?

“hell. yes.” Mutt snags a brownie immediately and leans against the doorway you’re still standing in. You might have thought he would dress as a werewolf, but it even takes you a moment to recognize him in the debonair suit and tie, paired with a silken purple shirt. nothing else seemed off about him, and he smiled when you stared. “hm? can’t figure out what i am? come on, guess.”

Stretch chuckles and politely refuses the brownie offered. “sorry, honey, try not to touch th’stuff so early in the day. got a whole party ahead of us.”

He’s dressed in basically the opposite of what Mutt is wearing–a very fine white suit and tie with a honey orange silk shirt. You suspect they go together.

is Dorothy Do inspired by Candle Cove? how did you learn how to do rubber hose? And do you like Mr. Ant Tenna :)

I might ask more questions when I get my detective hat on in order to think for more questions about pendog but for now these are it. Thank you :D

I actually have yet to read/watch(???) candle cove! Dorothy was inspired by the cowboy puppet show Howdy Doody which was once very well known and a staple of television (it helped RCA to sell their color television sets because it was so beloved!!!) but a lot of people do not know what it is in the modern day. most of what remains is old merchandise and…interesting…sometimes racially insensitive comics. But we will talk about that some other day.

I learnt to do rubberhose by studying others art and the classics! Look up model sheets sometime! They really help!

I like Mr Ant Tenna a lot but also wanna blow him up with dynamite he pisses me off/lh

Blue, Stretch, Black, and Mutt - Were you all living on your own during your babybones/childhood years? I hear that life on the streets can be rough for kids on their own.

"nah, like i said, our dad fell only about 5 years ago. we were already in our 20s. we were pretty lucky that way."

Does Briar recognize who her parents are? Is she seeing M.K. as her mom? And who does Briar see as her dad? Black or Boss

"th'squirt definitely sees MK as mom. lately she's taken to saying an approximation of 'mama', mostly just repeating the sound so it sounds like 'ma-ma-ma-ma'. she calls MK that, but also surprisingly says it to me, and pink. probably because we also wear purple like mom does."

"It's so cute! As for dads, it's a race to see who she'll call Daddy first. Black tries to pretend he doesn't care and doesn't want her to call him that but I hear him chanting it while he changes her."

Wait, Black, didn't you say you were going to have your kids call you by your name? That you didn't even want to be called daddy?

"I DID SAY THAT. AND WHEN SHE IS OLDER I INTEND TO KEEP TO IT." He pulls a stuffed bunny out of the dryer. "BUT RIGHT NOW IT...DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT. I TRIED TO CALL MYSELF BY MY NAME AROUND HER AND I FELT WEIRD DOING IT. SO, WHILE SHE'S SMALL, I'LL LET HER CALL ME DADDY."

"he changed it because everyone else was tryna teach her to say 'daddy' for them, and he got jealous," Mutt explains. "honestly i don't blame him. she already seems to favor boss."

I meant in my earlier post, if Blue, Sans, Red, Rus, G, Pink, B.J. has to watch their words around Briar? Or is it alright for her to learn those special adult words?

"we don't watch our mouth any more'n usual," Mutt admits. "except, we don't say any derogatory terms. red finally stopped using 'gay' as an insult, we stopped throwing around the words 'hoe' and 'cunt'. dumb shit like piss, shit, fuck, ass...those don't matter none."

"THE IMPORTANT THING IS THAT WE RECOGNIZE THE CONTEXT IN WHICH WE SPEAK THE WORDS," Papyrus clarified. "IF IT IS MEANT TO HURT, WE TRY NOT TO SAY IT. A FILLER WORD IS JUST FUNNY, EMPTY SPACE--A HURTFUL SLUR IS MUCH DIFFERENT."
