Congrats on the 500 followers. My question for you are things I've been wondering about FFXV that you might have insight on: Why do you think the Niffs have flight technology, but not Insomnia (other than regalia mods?) Do you think theres a form of law enforcement in Lucis outside Insomnia? I mean you never run into bandits in the wild after all. How do you suppose people who work for the crown are able to use the armiger/flash step? A ceremony? Spell? Thanks for your thoughts. :)
Hey Quills, nice to see you here! <3 I have coffee, so let’s get to those questions.
Why do you think the Niffs have flight technology, but not Insomnia (other than regalia mods?) I have a few theories: over reliance on magic, fear of becoming evil like the empire, inability to find a way to make flying tech compatible with the Wall
Do you think theres a form of law enforcement in Lucis outside Insomnia? IIRC the Glaive gets sent out for serious things, but we never really see any law enforcement. The closest we see is the network of Hunters -- maybe they serve as local law enforcement in the more rural areas, not only hunting monsters but handling other matters?
How do you suppose people who work for the crown are able to use the armiger/flash step? A ceremony? Spell? I like to think there is a big, elaborate arcane ceremony granting access to the armiger for the few who are allowed to use it. For access to magic in general, maybe it’s part of the swearing in when one joins the Glaive. Could be as simple as when you take your oaths, the ruler of the time lays a hand on your head and enables you to access the magic. But yeah, for the armiger, I feel like something more elaborate is needed since that is a step beyond just casting magic.
Thanks so much for asking! I hope you’re doing well, friend! <3
500 Followers!
Hey fam, somehow I got 500 followers. I feel like I should commemorate this! My initial idea was to offer 500 word drabbles, but being honest, I don’t have the spoons for that. So instead... how about a good old fashioned Xy Fri: Ask Xy edition? Want to ask me about my writing, what books I’m reading, what games I’m playing, my new kitten, recipes, or literally anything else? I’m here all night (until I fall asleep haha)
What are your five favorite books you've read this year so far? Your favorite, self-indulgent drink? Your most ideal writing place/scenario/whatever? If you had a million dollars to redo your wardrobe, what would you have? What are three video games that made you cry? 💕💕💕
Whoa runic coming in with a LIST of questions -- I might need more coffee! <3
What are your five favorite books you’ve read this year so far? Looking back through Goodreads to refresh my memory they are:
Starless by Jacqueline Carey: standalone epic fantasy with queer/nb representation as well as the amazing prose and world building I’ve come to expect from Carey
The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood: a hard read (I refer to both the book at tv show as ‘nightmare fuel’ for a reason) but very well done and powerful, especially in today’s political climate.
Dark Goddess Craft by Stephanie Woodfield: nonfiction, a book exploring the crone and “dark goddess” archetype so often left out of pagan books that primarily deal with the maiden and mother imagery. Gave myths, rituals, and tips for building a spiritual relationship with dark goddesses from various mythologies. A must read for a pagan who deals with Hard Shit and sometimes needs a warrior at her back instead of a mother figure.
The Legend of Korra Turf Wars graphic novel collection by Michael Dante DiMartino: Korrasami. I have no further explanation XD
I Am Her Tribe by Danielle Doby: baby’s first poetry book, and it hit my feels sooooo many times
honestly though, I read sooooo many good books this year, for this list I tried to pick five from different genres. And yesterday I started a book that will make this list by the time I finish it, Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon (bodyguard/royal sapphic epic fantasy/love story GIMME)
What is your favorite, self-indulgent drink? Depends on the time of year! In winter I’m shameless for peppermint mocha anywhere I can get it. In the summer, I love cranberry lemonade. In fall, I love apple cider (chilled, hot, I’ll take ‘em all). I don’t really have a spring drink! All year ‘round... gimme coffee XD
Your most ideal writing place/scenario/whatever? I’ve done the writing in a coffeehouse thing, and at home I usually write in my room or at the kitchen table, and I daydream about taking a vacation to a cabin in the woods or a lil house on the beach to write, but honestly, right now I am loving my brand new writing office that I finally got set up! it is not fancy, but it is MINE
If you had a million dollars to redo your wardrobe, what would you have? That’s actually a really hard question. I tend to be a pajama pants and geeky tshirt kind of person because I like to be comfortable. But I also really like sundresses when I can find the style I like (maxidress with sleeves). I think I’d end up with a mixture of loud, bright colored skirts and dresses, and a wide range of geeky tshirts for all the things I love! Why only have one style?
What are three video games that made you cry?
FFVI: surprising no one (least of all the friend who sent the ask) this game made me cry at several points and remains my favorite game to this day.
FFXV: also surprising no one this game made me cry a bunch too
Octopath Traveler: do any of these surprise anybody? LOL I’m still not done with this game (one more chapter 3 to go, I’m making progress) but its hit me in the feels numerous times
Thank you so much for asking, and for being a friend! <3 <3
Congrats on 500 followers, my dear!
Thank you so much, friend-pai! <3
Please tell me about your Sailor Moon OTP and all the wonderful things that make you love them so much! And congrats on 500 followers!
Hi hello and thank you for the ask! My Sailor Moon OTP is Michiruka, a definite part of my gaywakening! Michiru and Haruka, alias Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus, respectively. For a fair part of my formative years I wanted to *be* Michiru... water is her element, she’s a musician, she’s so graceful and pretty and just *siiigghhhh* (and she gets to date Haruka... heh heh)
This is a little spoilery, but in S3 they have a tragic death scene together, and it gets me sobbing like a baby every single time (even tho I know they get rezzed, since there are more seasons)
They are such fun characters, and I love the way their relationship is just so natural and not an exposition/explanation point. In the American dubbed version, they made them cousins, and I recall as a child being *very* confused -- I sure did not act like that with my cousins, lol! When I was able to watch a subtitled/properly translated version and I learned they were girlfriends, it made soooo much more sense!
Thanks so much for asking, Hope, and have a great night! <3
Hello friend. How goes your magic dancing OC story?
Hey Quills - nice to hear from you!
Book one in that world, Stormdancer, is now sitting just over 20,000 words. I’ve had a bit of a slow down on progress this month due to life throwing me some curveballs, but I’m excited to keep going as scheduling allows.
If you’d like a brief E rated peek into the mind of my protag Morgan, here is a drabble I wrote a while back: Prompt #34
What project(s) are you working on these days?
Thanks for reaching out and making my morning brighter! <3
Griffin, dragon, and siren for the ask!
griffin: how many books have you read this year?
A quick consult of Goodreads tells me I have completed 48 books this year! I currently have three books in progress, as is typical: one nonfiction, one fiction, and one e-book (for my work breaks or when I’m not at home). I’ve really gotten back into reading books this year and it’s been wonderful!
dragon: last thing that made you smile?
Receiving your ask <3
siren: favourite genre of music?
Video game music is my knee-jerk reaction! It’s my go-to for background when I’m writing, doing chores, driving, etc. I also love remixes of video game music, it’s interesting to hear the familiar songs re-imagined in new ways.
Thank you for asking! <3
