Some people have decided they are the moral ruler of tumblr and get to decide how people are allowed to draw and what they're allowed to draw. This has happened in many fandoms and cause a lot of people to lose their love of their own talent and that fandom. It drove me away and ended in people's personal information being leaked, trans and queer people to be outed to their families and communities and work places, and these moral dictators called real police on people whose art and fiction they didn't like. When you decide you don't like a person's art, that's fine. Nobody's art is universally liked. When you go and critique their art, that's fine. Critiques are necessary for artists to improve their work. But critiques arent, I don't like this so stop doing it. They're not, what you're drawing is pedophilia so stop drawing that way and draw how I approve. That doesn't give anything constructive that an artist can use to become better. That's actually limiting to the artist and the art form itself by stating a certain style is off limits simply because it's not your thing. It's entitled to expect every artist to cater to you, to believe that through bullying and nasty comments meant to make an artist doubt themselves, you can force them to change their style or shut them up. That's real censorship right there. Because you don't like something, it should go away and disappear. That is censorship and that has to stop. You can have your opinion, it's great that you do because it makes you you, but forcing your opinion on someone because you believe it to be morally superior is the same mindset of theocrats and those in government who believe homosexuality should be outlawed because it doesn't align with their morals. It's an argument whose foundation is built on the idea that you are superior to someone else for no other reason than your own tastes. It's a broken argument that stifles creativity because while you think that it's only affecting one artist, it's happening on a platform that reaches so many people at once. And while you think that you may only be scaring one artist into submission, there's a lot of other artists out there that will see your asks and your posts and will keep that in mind, so when you go to another artist to ask for a commission or to make a request, they'll remember you and the nasty things you said to another artist and even if they don't like that artist you bullied, they'll still remember the impact that you had on their own medium and their own industry and avoid you. Because if you did that to one artists, what's to say you won't do it to another? And another? And another? People have a long memory and reblogs don't go away. Your attitude and nastiness is out there for millions you don't know and those you do know to see. So do what everyone else does, and if you don't like something, block it. It's easy, you don't have to see it anymore, and you can get on with your life and enjoy other things and people don't have to wonder why you feel the need to impose your tastes onto other people and spend all your time being nasty and negative. And to all other content creators and artists out there: delete nasty anons. If they don't have the courage to say it and own it themselves, they don't deserve your response. Nasty people don't deserve the attention either, and posting gives them attention and legitimacy. You don't have to pretend it didn't happen. Tell a friend and talk to them. If your art really is an issue, a friend will be honest with you because your friends care and want your art and content to be the absolute best. So keep making what you make! Be proud of it! You did that, no one else! You imagined it, you created it out of nothing, and you brought joy to others by making it! Don't let anyone take that joy from you! @ask-super-luffy and @onepancake I'm tagging you guys cause of recent events and also so you guys know y'all are the best, okay????? ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
