Question about "Cinderella" in Scandinavia

Do the names used for Cinderella in Norwegian and Danish, "Askepott" and "Askepot," literally mean "pot of ashes"? I found one website that said they do, but I want to make sure.

I'm just curious about what some of the foreign names for Cinderella literally mean. I found it very interesting to learn that the German "Aschenputtel" means "ash digger" and that the Turkish "Külkedisi" means "ash cat."
