Glenvar losing his fucking mind rn

If Glenvar's flamcor was in his stomach or lungs, could he actually breathe fire? And what are other body parts that could have flamcor, and what would their effects be?
Since the flamcor is a magical object and magic doesn't always follow logic, I think there could be a lot of possibilities! The way it works for one person may not be the way it works for another.
A flamcor fused with the lungs would probably give someone fire-breathing abilities. A flamcor in the stomach might allow them to digest anything. A flamcor in the liver could enable them to eliminate poisons and other toxins easily, such as gorgon venom.
A flamcor in the bladder...well, enjoy your magma-piss...
(I think similar effects could be achieved by fusing an everfloe crystal with an organ. Everfloe lungs = ice breath. Everfloe stomach = slower digestion, requiring less food. Everfloe liver...uh, this would be bad. Don't do this...)

More random yapping, but:
There's a pretty clear father/son dynamic between Evan and Isaac, but what doesn't get explored enough is how that same dynamic exists (or once existed) between Evan and Glenvar.
Glenvar was pretty young when he joined the crew, and a lot of what he knows had to be taught to him by Evan and Lukas, who were the most stable adults he had in his life since he left his sisters behind. Evan was the more stable of the two, since Lukas always threatened to walk away and abandon them both whenever he got frustrated (and he still does this from time to time...)
It appears like Glenvar has outgrown this dynamic by the time Isaac joins the crew, but I don't think that's entirely true. I think he just tries to hide how much he relies on Evan, because it seems like whenever Evan is doing badly, Glenvar suddenly is too.
Maybe it scares him when he sees the most stable person in his life start falling apart?

kid-az Maybe instead of fire, Glenvar can spit out superheated steam if he takes a mouthful of liquid, and he wouldn’t even need alcohol for that… even if he almost never drinks non-alcoholic beverages!
-----
@kid-az , I like the way you think! I love this idea so much, I'm going to make it canon! 👩⚖️
I am going to nerf the ability a bit though, because someone like Glen can't be trusted with such a power lol. He's enough of a menace as he is.
I'm gonna say he can only breathe steam when he's angry enough. Like, full-on raging. He can't really control his flamcor, it's more like his flamcor is controlled by his emotions. This is already canon; his flamcor gets hot and starts to glow when his heart beats faster, so this makes the most sense to me.
Also, I think using this ability actually burns him pretty bad, so it's a last resort thing. It's not hot enough to permanently disfigure him, but enough to hurt for a week or so.
He can blast his enemies with hot steam-breath, spit, puke, piss, or a mouthful of simmering liquid...but it's going to hurt him as much as it hurts them. Luckily, Glenvar just happens to be a glutton for pain. B)
I could see this ability getting him out of some tense jams! Thank you for the suggestion!

For a while while reading I wondered if Glenvar can still spit fire if he puts alcohol in his mouth like how he defeated the Silvertrunk elves. By now it's pretty obvious he can't but I think it'd be pretty funny if he could and just didn't realize it
This wasn't some special power of his or anything, it's something anyone can do with a mouthful of booze and an open flame. He attacked the Silvertrunk elves by spitting alcohol through the ring of his flamcor, creating a flamethrower effect. (I think he also did this with a lit match in a couple other stories? Maybe Trial of Titans and The Abominable Skaadia? I can't remember.)
I agree that it would be awesome if Glenvar could breathe fire naturally! I don't think his flamcor gives him that power though (it's in his heart, not his stomach or lungs).
But he can still do his flame-breath party trick, so long as he has some booze on hand...and he always has booze on hand, as we all know.

Is the FGG religious?
I think they're all agnostic, with a small handful of exceptions. Those exceptions being...
Evan: Evan was once a practicing Lindist, only because he was raised in a Lindist household and he knew nothing different. As he grew older and exposed himself to more worldly ideas, he began to find cracks in his religion and eventually fell out of it. He now vaguely claims himself to be "spiritual", not a Lindist but still having faith in Gaia as an intelligent and loving maker. He continues to worship Her in his own way, not in the way Lindist doctrine demands. He also still observes the minor gods from Lindist scripture, which are all really just elements of Gaia by different names (water, fire, land, air, etc.)
Lukas: Lukas considers himself an atheist. However, in the context of Looming Gaia, the word "atheist" can encompass several very different belief systems. In Lukas' case, he doesn't believe that Gaia is a sentient being who does anything deliberately. Everything She creates is just a byproduct of Her survival, and She lacks the capacity to care for these creations or anything else living upon her. Lukas views Allkind as parasites living on Her back. He believes that his maker basically shat him out by accident and regards him like a dog regards a tapeworm.
Lukas looks down on anyone who believes otherwise, and he hates the concept of organized religion in general. He believes that religious doctrine, in all its forms, only does harm and makes the world a worse place for Allkind.
Glenvar: Glenvar is the most religious member of the crew, surprisingly enough. Though it seems he treats everything in life like a joke, his faith is the one thing he takes very seriously. He's a devout Sylvanist who compromises his faith for nothing. He'll skip work to goof off without a second thought , but he wouldn't dream of skipping a prayer ritual. It's too important to him. He communes with his gods daily and finds comfort in them.
This annoys his crewmen at times, because he makes them participate in these rituals whenever the opportunity arises. If it's prayer time (sunrise and sunset) and they happen to be standing near one of his shrines, they better get on their knees and join him. If they don't, he'll kick them in the shins to drop them, then trap them in a headlock and force them to pray with him, because he takes great offense when they "disrespect" his gods. If his crew is eating meat, they better throw a piece of it in the fire first or he'll grab it off their plate and do it for them. If they hunt an animal, he'll make them say a prayer and dress its corpse in flowers right after they kill it. And so on...
Most of his crewmen just go along with it, because it's way less trouble than fighting with him about it. Lukas, on the other hand...Lukas and Glenvar have had some earth-shattering fights over religion. They argue about it pretty much daily. These dumb arguments have become background noise to the rest of the crew, it's as natural as birdsong to them at this point.
Elska: Elska's tribe had its own set of beliefs about the world as well as their own unique creation theory. This religion is so small and obscure that it doesn't even have a name, but it's what Elska has always believed and continues to have faith in today.
In short, she believes that Gaia is a huge cosmic centaur who shaped Elska's tribe in Her image, forging them from stone and bone (This is why her tribe is called the People of Stone and Bone). When her people die, they join Her in the cosmos with all their ancestors, where they run free among the stars for all eternity.
Elska isn't pushy about her religion like Glenvar is. She mostly keeps her faith and rituals to herself. Leaving her mountain actually made her start questioning this faith and gave her a new perspective on it as a whole. She still believes in it, but she looks at it differently than she used to.

How did Glenvar learn to cook? Only asking because his mom doesn't seem like the cooking type....
That's a good question! His mom definitely wasn't the cooking type, and even if she was, there wasn't much to work with in Kirkmar. The Maskamar people ate unseasoned meat for pretty much every meal.
Evan and Lukas are both bad at cooking (Evan because he was raised in a culture where women do the cooking, and Lukas because he had servants to cook for him) so he didn't learn it from them. The rest of the crew isn't especially good at it either.
So, Glenvar probably taught himself. Leaving Kirkmar broadened his culinary horizons massively. He'd been eating basically nothing but elga meat his whole life, so when he travelled to a land with more types of food available, he got really excited about it.
He used to stay at a specific inn in the city of Odens a lot, to the point where he was on a first-name basis with the staff. I imagine he used to help out in the kitchen for a few extra coins here and there, learning a lot along the way.
Once he met Evan and Lukas, they began teaching him how to read. From there, he could study cookbooks and experiment with recipes from around the world.
Overall I think he just has a natural talent for it, but he wasn't able to discover that talent until he left his stifling village.
