hc + 😴 for a sleep-themed headcanon
Deacon rarely sleeps. When he does its either power napping OR passing out for half a day (when his body is in desperate need of sleep) there is no in-between.
On the road/during missions he hardly sleeps, his brain is too wound up for him to properly catch z's outside of 5 to 20 min naps. He's used to being alone and watching his own back. Kept him alive for this long. When he's back in HQ (or the safehouse only HE knows about) he finds a quiet corner and isn't disturbed unless it's an absolute emergency.
It's not until like the Institute and/or BOS is defeated that he actually starts to relax and have better sleep habits. He's still wound up and won't properly sleep on the road, but he can rest just a little easier.
hc + ❓ for a headcanon of the receiver's choice
Ok so like pairing this with the last hc, his coffee order is several shots of espresso and one pump of tarberry syrup flavoring. He NEEDS his caffeine intake, and his coffee order would be WEIRD. He also would absolutely combine several 5 hour energies, nuka energy drink of the day, and coffee and chug it just to feel something. The only other person to even touch his coffee and not immediately hurl or have heart palpitations would be Tinker Tom who doesn't even bat an eye that he accidentally drank Deacon's murder concoction.
This is most likely AU territory for like a coffee shop au if you desire lmao but also I do like to think that caffeine is like a self-medicating thing because I absolutely see Deacon having ADHD (since like...I have adhd) and it 1) helps him focus and 2) he has to get past a specific threshold of caffeine intake before it has the effect he wants cause otherwise it'll make him sleepy.
