Like this women does not hesitate to kick a puppy out of the way. I'm just curious as to how Hancock acts around Lu. Like is she still very hostile at the start or what exactly. Honestly, I haven’t thought too deeply about Amazon Lily yet, but a few ideas crossing my mind now:

Keep in mind that the citizens of Amazon Lily who aren’t members of the Kuja Pirates are extremely sheltered from the rest of the world. Most have never seen a man before, and only have the vaguest idea of what one is, probably like a mythological beast. And well, to most people even outside Amazon Lily, Luffy literally IS a mythological beast. 

So while on one hand, no one on the island finds her alarming for her gender, think of how they reacted to canon!Luffy, who they thought was a Village Girl with a Weird Mushroom That Doesn’t Come Off. Now imagine how they might react to We Thought She Might Be A Village Girl Except She’s LITERALLY HALF FISH. Turns out that she is indeed a girl this time, but STILL half fish. I feel like in the ranking of things that are Very Strange And Alarming, the mermaid scenario is a bit more extreme ^ ^;

And, well, I imagine the rest might proceed more or less as canon. Luffy’s still Luffy, and rude and brash and nothing like they’ve seen before. And while Hancock may have a slight soft spot for fishmen/mer due to her past with Fisher Tiger, she still sentences Luffy to a public execution because regardless of her gender, Luffy still broke into her palace while Hancock was bathing, the GREATEST taboo, and saw the brand on her back on top of that.

So yeah, honestly the rest is...pretty much same as canon? Except Hancock’s fantasies may be more focussed on seeing Luffy in a beautiful wedding dress and getting to scoop her up, rather than the other way around...

(speaking of which, the main thing that bothers me about Hancock’s romantic shoujo fantasies in canon is not so much that she has them, but that they’re SO general heteronormative. I don’t mean that in the sense of bashing it, just that I find it hard to believe that a woman who grew up in a culture of all women would have such personal knowledge and cravings for Luffy being, well, manly. I know that unlike most of Amazon Lily’s citizens, Hancock very much knows what a man is, but I doubt to the extent of being interested in learning about heterosexual romance, especially after her experience in Mariejois. I know I’m over thinking it and it’s just to make her funny and relatable to the audience in OUR world, but why WOULDN’T she want to see canon guy Lu in a cute wedding dress too, if we assume that’s the normal wedding standard in her culture????--) 

(You know what, while I’m on this tangent. This is a very personal headcanon that everyone’s free to ignore, but while I think it’s very easy to assume that everyone on Amazon Lily is lesbian, much like DCU’s Themyscira by which it was likely inspired, and in many ways they ARE lesbian by our world’s standards--I feel like in-universe, their experience with sexuality/gender is very different from ours and hard to define by our terms. By which I mean, they are a SINGLE gender society. They don’t have any concept of opposite OR same gender, or actually I doubt Gender at all. They’re called the island of Women, but “Women” here is synonymous with “People” or “Humans”. Sure, they’ve heard of “Men” out there, but most of them will never leave the island, which is literally smack dab in the middle of the Calm Belt. So they’re women, but their “woman-ness” isn’t at all defined by being contrasted against men or any other gender, if that makes sense.

That isn’t to say that say, trans or nb people don’t exist. In fact, I strongly HC that Hancock has ties to Ivankov’s Kamabakka Kingdom, and they regularly exchange citizens depending on their lifestyle preferences (an active warrior lifestyle in the jungle, vs island paradise with access to modern fashion). Dunno how else to explain Daisy, a Kuja Pirate with a distinctively masculine laugh, she can’t really have picked that up on Amazon Lily....but I digress. I just HC that most people born and raised on Amazon Lily lack any concept of gender and therefore sexual preferences based on them.

The point of this long rant to say, I don’t think Hancock’s attraction to Luffy in canon OR this AU is at all based on gender; she’s attracted to Luffy for LUFFY, however you choose to define that. So really, even tho Luffy’s a girl in this AU, I doubt Hancock sees any difference, or would act any different as a result! End rant LMAO)
