niittinaatti Goldie, Esmeralda and Platina I’ve heard somewhere Also who's to say that oreads like the same naming conventions as normal humans. What if there's just oreads named Rocky or Stony or something.

I think nymphs have all kinds of naming conventions based on their languages and cultures! They may even have multiple names. For example, the minervae Charity was originally known as "Asha", which means "beautiful music" in the language of Galsungi. A lot of them likely have names we perceive as "male" too. Rocky is a really cute name for an oread!

This list is just a few picks I personally liked, but I think people could get a lot more creative with them.

Are oreads magnetic?

Wow, great question! Oreads' bodies are plated with different metals and minerals, depending on their type. Some of these materials may be magnetic, such as nickel or cobalt.

However, these materials are not magnetic in their raw state. I believe they have to be magnetized first. So I will say no, you cannot stick magnets to oreads in their natural state. But perhaps they can be magnetized somehow and then it would be possible.

I'm not very educated about how that process works, but if someone smarter wants to chime in, please do!

What about the land nymphs, could a human date one?

Could they? Sure.

Should they? Well...let's talk about the properties of these nymphs for a second.

Like limniads and dryads, oreads are quite diverse. Some have plates of metal growing on their skin like armor, while others are covered in little crystals or gems. Either way, all oreads have these things in common: they are incredibly strong and incredibly dense.

By that I mean, let's say an oread and a human are standing side by side. They look like they're the exact same size, so they should weigh about the same, right?

Wrong. Whatever that human weighs, the oread weighs about 4x more. She's also about 10x stronger. Any damage her body takes, she can repair by eating whatever element she represents (gold, rubies, quartz, etc.)

So if you want a romantic relationship with an oread, keep in mind that they are WAY heavier than they look and they might accidentally kill you. Because for them, interacting with you is like interacting with a delicate little insect. It would take very little effort on their part to literally crush your bones.

I'm not saying it's impossible for a human to date one of these creatures, I'm just saying there's serious quirks that must be taken into account...

And that's assuming they would want you at all. Oreads are generally distrustful of humans (and all peoples) because they are hunted and exploited for their valuable minerals. The gems and plates that grow on them can be harvested, meaning a lot of shady characters pursue these nymphs with greedy intentions. For this reason, oreads spend most of their time underground, hidden away from peoples. Good luck even finding one to begin with.

On a more positive note, oreads sometimes gift their minerals to people they like. If you stay on their good side, there's a chance you'll end up with a valuable diamond or something. And if you manage to win their love and devotion, who knows what treasures you'll reap?
