What is "pregnant Halt girl" a reference to?
You want to be Persephone/Kore. So how does one do that? Or if it's an individual's process, how do you do that?
Do you feel spring inside you each day?
Lmao, so, Pregnant Halt Girl is a reference to a Rangers Apprentice AU of mine. A semi popular headcanon is that Halt, the mentor character, is a trans man. At some point, for some reason, my brain decided that I would take the kid he adopted, and the trans halt headcanon, and simply make the kid his biological son. Of course, I did this through pregnancy. I take the topic as seriously as I would a woman getting pregnant and do as much as I can to present him as manly without mocking him. It's actually a very sad au. Anyways, lots of people got very interested in that au, so I changed my header to that as somewhat of a joke.
Now to talk about my url...
So, like most gay kids on the internet, I had a massive Greek mythology phase. It was during this phase that I found out my birth name, Kore, was actually a pseudonym for Persephone. This sparked a small bit of a deep dive into her history and mythology. One thing that stood out to me was how, despite being kidnapped and more or less sold into a marriage by her father, she ended up perfectly happy in the underworld with a healthy marriage. She's seen in a couple myths as very much so using her powers as Queen of Hades to her fullest extant. This ability to make the best out of what should have been a bad situation is something I have always looked up to.
Also, I've always seen her cycle between Spring and Death as very interesting. I always imagined the way her personality may have changed between the two, going from being a fair and kind flower maiden, to a woman referred to as a maiden purely because speaking her name was seen as a curse. And I could sort of see a similar split within myself, y'know, switching between being deeply kind and in love with all of nature and humanity, to being very very angry and vengeful and, reportedly, scary. So, Persephone seemed a perfect embodiment of what was already there
Now, I am not a hellenist by any means. I tried, for a while, but I just couldn't make myself believe it. I am, however, an Irish pagan! And by quite fun coincidence, the Goddess I felt the most connection to shares a couple of the same associations! How funny
