Raiden@Sphene: the young Legend seems highly interested in the likes of her, his eyes filled with curiosity. "I have heard many legends around my own Sky Guardian but I'm sure there has been a different story how you came to be. Is it something you will be willing to share? Because I someday want to have a... cool legend focused on me. It might be give me an idea."
Sphene mulled over the question for a moment, quiet and thoughtful. It certainly wasn't an odd question, but the context of why he wanted to know was interesting. After a moment, she turned towards Raiden, a small smile on her face.
“I can see where you’re coming from! Having a legend built around you is quite flattering, but you also need to keep in mind the great duty that comes along with it. Stories that follow us legends around will most often be ones of either praise or scorn, and it is your actions that play a large role in deciding which one will be spread.”
“Using my own story as an example, I was a mortal who Ascended to godhood alongside my companions after our quest had reached its end. It was done in an effort to save my life, and to give the empty mantle of Rayquaza to someone trustworthy who would not abuse that power. I was spurred to action due to the chaos the world was in, and my work brought calm and peace where I went. This, alongside my subsequent Ascension, are the reasons legends are spread about me.” It felt a little awkward talking about herself this way. She was not one to brag or boast, but Raiden had asked, and so she had obliged.
“I do my best to live up to those stories, to the legends I made. I work hard to ensure that, when people see me coming, they’ll know everything will be alright. The trust and hope people put in me is one of the great burdens and joys of being what we are, and without them I would not be what I am today.”
“Ah, it seems like I started rambling a bit. In any case, it can be a bit daunting with how I describe it, but you're still young. I say don't worry too much about it for now. You’re still learning, and trust me when I say it’ll take some time before you feel fully confident in your role. Once you grow and learn a bit more, take on more responsibilities– whatever those may be –stories will naturally spread about your actions. It’s not something you can really force.”
