Hey guys please help! I procastinate too much during my study time period and it greatly affects my grades. I don't really know what to do to stop my procastinating habits. Any advice would be really helpful. Thank you.
what helped me the most, was having a plan.
i always had a planner in which i wrote all of my courses, activities, and social engagements. looking over my planner gave me a better sense of how my week, month, or even semester will look like, and helped me see when i was having a really busy week, or a lot of free time.i always tried to study around the same time of day. some like to study course material right after the class is over while the material is fresh in their minds, while others need a break from the material to be able to study. you have to figure this out for your own.i never planned to study the hour before an exam. and i never forgot to include being healthy in my game plan as well. make sure you catch at least 6-8 hours of sleep a night and to exercise for 30 minutes a day or 1 hour a few times a week, even in the middle of a grueling study period.
but most important, have the right attitude. the right attitude will put you in a positive frame of mind, which will make you more open to and excited about studying. the wrong attitude can make you feel defeated before you even start and will keep you from being focused and absorbing the material. i guess there you’ll have to kick yourself in the ass :)remember that you’re not just studying to get an A, but to gain knowledge. that’s why you’re in school, isn’t it? and that’s pretty cool. you are doing this for yourself.

Just to add: I’m also a huge procrastinator but what I’ve been doing for the past couple years is summarizing all of my course notes. I use a coloured pen for titles/key words and I write out all of the important stuff. And I do this while watching tv or a movie or listening to music. Generally a week or two before a big test, I put on a movie that I like and I start summarizing.
I find that I retain information a lot better when I write it out. And sometimes the amount of course notes you get can be overwhelming, so condensing everything into a few pages will make it easier for you to review later on. Plus, writing notes doesn’t require 100% of your attention, so you can listen to something while doing it. It’s like.. productive procrastination!
Anyways this method has helped me get straight As for my last two years of university so I figured I’d share :)
