At the time I started the show (I was 13), I didn't know what aspec identities were, but I knew I was different and I knew I identified with ASIP Sherlock very very deeply when I first watched BBC's Sherlock, and the fact that, while he became more "human" by the end of s4, he also didn't have a concrete love interest at the end. This had really calmed my anxieties towards my (a)sexuality, and is an example of why we need diverse representation in the media.
(Side note: it is my own hc that Sherlock is aro/ace. You can have your own thoughts and opinions. I know he loves John, and they definitely were Husbands™️ in the end, and I ship Johnlock just as much as the next fan. But I don't think his love necessarily came from a romantic or sexual stance. This is just a part of my story, because I am really tired of the aphobia on my dash. There are toooonnns of other reasons why we need aspec representation)
