The chapter is finally up, so I can post this!!
I wanted to draw the warrior ceremony for Cloudnose, Tornface, and Aspencloud from the @redux-iterum! Designing Aspencloud was super fun, probably my favorite part of this drawing. I'm not satisfied with the design for Tornface, but I messed with it for so long, I decided to just let it be and work on it some more later if I draw her again. I love that she picked her own name! One of my favorite things in RSR so far for sure 😊
I am surprised that Aspencloud didn’t ask for Aspenflower! I always figured Matriarchs-to-be would want -flower as to prove to everyone that they excel in their role.
Is there a reason she chose -cloud instead? was it perhaps to tie herself more closely with Cloudnose, or does she think herself not as worthy of the name as Goldenflower?
Aspencloud honestly just thought -cloud sounded nicer with her name than -flower. She very much does fit it, but aesthetics do sometimes factor into someone's decision when it comes to their name. There are countless cats in history who chose a lower-ranked suffix just based on how it sounded with their prefix - part of the fun freedom of having multiple choices!

With Goldenflower needing to give Aspenpaw more independence, a good chunk of her apprenticeship must have been spent wrangling Sootkit and Rainkit. It's so fitting that Aspencloud's final test was wrangling the crazy kits' grandmother! I hope she's a traveling matriarch, because that will be a fun story to tell!

Now that this chapter is public, I can finally share the headcanon I got when I first read this chapter on patreon: Poppytail and Aspencloud become best friends in arc 2 (you've said before the clans ARE making the great journey, or at least are leaving the forest) as the only 2 matriarchs to not be named -flower.
This is...actually a super fun idea. I may keep that in mind for later.

Dustwatcher - A serious and thoughtful cat. Dustwatcher doesn’t tend to speak much, they are very stoic and will often watch events unfold in silence, and will often only input their opinion when it is asked for. Dustwatcher likes to reflect on current affairs and will often correctly predict things that the other clans will decide to do next, they won’t offer their predictions, instead their clanmates will have to come to Dustwatcher for their opinion - Dustwatcher will only ever decide to give warning without being asked if they believe an attack is imminent. Dustwatcher is a cat their clanmates don’t generally view as a friend, but they deeply respect them and value their presence nonetheless, 15/10
Copperfeather - A friendly and cheerful cat. Copperfeather is a cat that is very easy to get along with, they are never quick to judge others and always have a welcoming and friendly demeanour (unless they are under attack of course). Copperfeather is a great cat to chat with and any patrol with them often ends in some very interesting, but lighthearted conversations - and they will never treat patrols from other clans with hostility upon meeting them, in fact, Copperfeather actually has quite a good reputation among all the clans and it isn’t uncommon for cats from neighbouring clans to come to say hi if they spot them on patrol, 15/10
Honeypool - A relaxed and intelligent cat. Honeypool is a very laid back cat, whenever they are free from duties for the day they can often be found relaxing, especially when it’s sunny, they will often be found purring in a patch of sunlight in the warmer seasons. Honeypool is always willing to lend an ear for a cat that wants help or advice - they are very good at thinking up solutions to other cat’s problems and they enjoy doing so, and they have formed several friendships due to this hobby of theirs, 14/10
Aspencloud - A courageous and serious cat. Aspencloud is a natural leader, they always look out for their clanmates and are ready to defend them against anything, although they often stoic and distant with their clanmates. Aspencloud often disregards their own safety and well-being when it comes to that of their clanmates, they have a deep sense of clan pride and loyalty and will readily sacrifice their life in order to save a clanmate - they are a skilled warrior and their feats in battle are often discussed with admits and respect during gatherings, 15/10
this week in “i am so starved for gay murder cats that im grasping at straws”: cloudrunner & aspenfall are seen together so much in tallstars revenge that im now decreeing that theyre gay and a VERY committed couple. they also adopted tallpaw/tail and are his adoptive gay dads who he loves very much.
